My reaction to the trailer to Masters Of the Universe Revelation · 3:37pm Jun 12th, 2021
This blog is an extension of my previous blog on "what I want from the He-Man reboot". There's now a new trailer for the He-Man reboot entitled Master Of the Universe Revelation, and so far, it looks okay.
When I wrote my first blog, at the time, I thought MotUR was going to be in continuity with She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. It wasn't until later on when I learned that both shows will follow their own continuities separate from each other. On the one hand, it's a shame that the She-Ra reboot won't get to continue on in some way, but on the other hand, it would be difficult to continue this story after Adora literally saved the whole universe. Where could the writers go after that? With that fact plus the controversies surrounding She-Ra, I can understand why they want to keep both shows separate. Of course, this approach means that MotUR will now have to work on its own merits, and judging by the trailer, it looks okay, but I'm not sure if it will appeal to me. Sure, it's action packed, the animation looks great, and having Mark Hamill play Skeletor is certainly a plus. Although, I'm the kind of dork who cares about things like lovable characters and engaging stories, and the trailer suggests its more about the action.
On a weird side note, I also find it strange that the trailer begins with "after 40 take back the power" even though ever since the original 80's series, we already had the She-Ra reboot, the 2002 He-Man series, and the 1990 He-Man series. How can we "take back the power" when we technically we never lost it? Anyway, to sum up, I'm still on the fence about this He-Man reboot, but I am curious enough to give it a try when it premieres July 23.
