    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

T-minus 60 hours to Feathered Hearts: Eros launch... · 12:35am May 29th, 2021

It will launch when I get up on Memorial Day, which is Monday morning (a three day weekend! :yay:). First full editing pass on the ten chapter side story is complete, and a second one is planned. I also need to flesh out the final two chapters by about 1000 more words to bring them up to what I consider ideal clopfic chapter length. That aside, I've already got the story cover prepared:

This should give a good idea of what to expect. Note the color-coded chapter rating/content descriptions at the bottom. Some of that will be spoilered when the story actually goes live, but I figured I'd give you all a sneak preview of what's there. As for the cover art, I auditioned three other cropped pictures of Gilda in sexy scenes, even one with her in anthro form, but in the end, nothing beat the original. So what the cover art is supposed to look like is the original main story art of Gilda as seen through zap apple-inebriated eyes—i.e., a pinkish glow around everything.

Get hyped, folks. By this time Monday morning, one main story chapter and five side story chapters will have been launched with the remaining five of the latter held in reserve. Even aside from sex, expect plenty of interesting information and some new worldbuilding in the side story, including Giraldi's full name and family life, how the griffies would react to seeing movies like The Princess Bride or 300, and most ominous of all, a heated debate amongst the humans over the best fried chicken franchises on earth.

No one can possibly complain they got ambushed by squick. Very nice color layout!

Prepare yourselves for chapter 1, guys. What a way to start it off!

Worldbuilding

This is my fetish.

Thanks! :yay: And yes, I admit I'm a bit paranoid about that now, especially for a story with as much varied action as this will have.

Thanks again! I'm quite proud of it. :twilightblush: :rainbowwild:

Yep, those are the chapters I'll be checking out.

Will the side story take place before, during or after the chapter that will be going live? Asking so i know in which order i'll have to read it.

It will take place before it, basically filling in the gap between the end of the previous chapter and start of the new one. So if you want to read them sequentially, you would read the side story first.

However, the events of the side story are (mostly) not remembered in the main story other than the physical aftereffects--i.e., the lingering hangover and magical addiction after having so much zap apple cider spiked with a prescription fertility potion. In my view, there's no real harm in reading in the main story chapter first to see the aftermath and maybe getting one or two teasers as to what happened, then going back to read the side story to see what happened if that's what you prefer to do.

Some come for the clop. Some come for the worldbuilding. Either is fine with me!

All I'm going to say before release is, this is probably Firesight's single greatest continuous clopfic, along with one of the best of the recently release. Right up there with Some Leech and Dirty Little Secret.

Thanks, SB5! That's high praise indeed. Here's hoping everyone else agrees.
