My Adventures with Superman - Season 2

Just watched the premiere, first two episodes of the new season.

And I think we are off to a FINE start with this season! :pinkiehappy: :yay:

God, I've missed this show. Do yourselves a favor and look into it. This is one of the best Superman things - hell, one of the best superhero things in general - out there in a LONG time. :pinkiehappy:

Thoughts on The Fall Guy (2024)

This was fun. Not an all-time great, but still, a good and stylish way to kill two hours.

Thoughts on Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

The last time I watched this movie, I was around eight years old, having rented it from Food City. I'm glad to have watched it again, and on the big screen to boot.

    Primal Jack

Found this image courtesy of Reddit. It was too good not to share. :pinkiehappy:

Speaking a little more seriously though, it's interesting to look at this and compare/contrast the two characters' designs and the respective art styles of their shows.

    I Am Back

Hey everyone. I'm sorry for being so quiet these past few days, but Internet connections were pretty crappy at both the hotel and at the convention, so I figured I'd just save the big response for when I finally got home and unpacked.

I have seen Godzilla vs. Kong · 6:57pm May 26th, 2021

On the big screen, no less.

And the long and the short of it is, that I had a lot of fun. :pinkiehappy:

I'll probably do a full review down the road, but to keep it short and to the point right now, I'll say this...

This movie is basically a big-budget reskin of one of the classic "versus" movies of the Showa era. You are here to watch the monsters, not the people. The humans get the plot going, provide exposition, and provide developments in the story, but the ultimate draw is seeing a giant gorilla throw down with a nuclear sea monster. I'd also compare this movie to a rollercoaster... it takes a little bit to really get underway (think of that initial climb up the first hill on a good 'coaster), but when it hits that first drop...

Holy shit you're in for some thrills. :pinkiehappy:

Seriously, the monster action in this movie is phenomenal. And the visuals and scenery are just jaw-dropping. I gasped out loud and exclaimed quite a few times watching this movie. If you're looking for a good way to kill a few hours, and just relish in some spectacular monster violence, you could do quite well with Godzilla vs. Kong.

This movie is fun.

You said it. :pinkiehappy:

And yet one guy I know didn't enjoy it because he thought the human characters were too flat and underdeveloped. And I'm just kind of like, "Dude. What kind of movie do you *think* you're paying to see here?"

While I see his point, it's like complaining that the romance between Han and Leia takes up very little screen time and happens kinda out of nowhere. Be that as it may, I can't help but feel you're focusing on the wrong thing.

Yeah, it's not an inherently *bad* position to take, but I'm also still of the opinion that, if you go to a movie that's called "Godzilla versus Kong" and are hoping for deep or thought-provoking character study, you're really barking up the wrong tree.

Then again, this is a long-running issue that he and I have. He will constantly say that this movie or that one "didn't go deep enough on character"... you could almost make a drinking game of how many times he's said so in a write-up of a movie. It's to the point that I basically suspect he's one of those types who thinks that only the best movies are dark and serious.

And I can see why he'd enjoy that kind of film. It can work. Character work, when done right, is amazing. But, like you said. This isn't really the kind of movie where you're focusing much on getting deep human characters. It's Godzilla, vs Kong. The whole reason to watch the movie, is to see them hit each other really hard.

Yep. I get it, but I think that he and I went into this one with very different expectations or demands from the story.
I just went in and hoped to have fun watching Kong and Godzilla bash each other good.
And, by God, I did. XD

Same. It was SO worth it.
