B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
B (a good episode which still could have been better)
B- (a good episode with numerous flaws but still rewatchable)

C- (it’s not worth rewatching although it does have good elements)
D+ (a bad episode with a few good things in it)

D- (a terrible episode with badly written characters and butchered moral)
F (horrible and unwatchable)

Hello, guys. Here is my review of Forgotten Friendship, the first of the one-hour-long five special episodes of Equestria Girls. Ugh, boy, this was a buttload of mixed feelings and cringe-fest as everything goes downhill with the obvious plot device erasing everyone’s memories and yet another terrible excuse of an antagonist waltzing around the school feeling nothing but self-pity, pettiness, and selfishness. To be completely honest, it is very hard for me to sit through this episode without feeling annoyed or cringed to the core.

I can see where they were going with this story, but I can’t honestly say that it was an interesting type. The memory stone managed to erase the memories of Sunset’s friends and bring them to the stage in which they only remember her for the bad things she’s done as a bully? Hmm, okay, that’s a nice twist of events. Do I like it that much? No, I do not at all. How can I sit through that while I see Sunset get the cold shoulder like that? That must have brought some bad memories for her.

However, it was actually nice they gave the spotlight to Trixie in this. Human Trixie is honestly more likable than the Equestrian Trixie; I find her narcissistic personality more entertaining than annoying for some reason. She is less irritating and more lovable than pony Trixie; change my mind... if you can. ;)

Anyway, Trixie and Sunset’s interactions were fairly done well and were honestly interesting just as Sunset’s interaction with Starlight was in the previous episode. I just wish they had more moments with each other to further solidify their friendship. Still, I’m happy with what I got. This is most likely the only part I actually enjoyed out of all this mess.

But this character... this—this... “villain”:

She needs to be snapped by Thanos as soon as possible or be jokerized by The Joker. Here we have Wallflower Blush as she fully resented Sunset for not even remembering her or not knowing her during all the times she was in Canterlot High. Consumed by jealousy and anger from seeing her get all the love and attention, she used the stone to erase her friend’s good memories of her and the memories of the entire school. But hold on now, she also erased the times she had awkward moments and weird conversations with people in school.

(Okay, to be frank, I would have done the same thing when I was younger except, you know, the whole revenge thing. I hate social awkwardness in reality and in movies and shows. If I had that stone, I wished that I could erase those moments. I mean, don’t we all? Uh-oh, I hope Thanos doesn’t get it!)

So... you get mad at people for not remembering you or not knowing you, yet you just erased their memories of you because of the awkwardness and public speaking. I AM CONFUSION??? :applejackconfused:

Do you not see the faulty logic of her motivation? It was HER fault they don’t even know who she is or remember her!! Yet she had the audacity to blame Sunset, play the victim, and make her life miserable because of HER stupidity. Wallflower, I have only one thing to say of your predicament:

“How dare you forget me like I don’t exist even though it was my fault this all happened! Now I’m gonna make your life a living hell because I’m such a self-victimizing imbecile!!”

Get the hell outta here, girl. 🙄

This episode would’ve been so much better if she was completely out of it and was replaced by a much better villain who actually KNOWS what she/he is doing and doesn’t blame people out of stupidity. D+

Peace out, y’all. Stay tuned for my review of Rollercoaster of Friendship.

What were your thoughts on the reunion and reconciliation between Celestia and Sunset, by any chance?

It was heartfelt and sweet, I’ll admit. Still, it wasn’t enough for me.

Personally, I consider “Forgotten Friendship” to be one of my favorite installments, as well as the best of the half-hour specials (the second best being “Sunset’s Backstage Pass”). But, I do see where you’re coming from in terms of why it’s not something of your taste.

Wallflower is definitely a good character in my book, but at the same time...she just wasn’t the most original in terms of being a villain, and I think that’s something the EG series struggled with to where it likely became a contributing factor as to why the series has so far been cancelled at the most.

I agree with you. The Equestria Girls shorts had better stories than this.

So Mr. J.... what did you think of seeing the main cast (as well as for the other characters, mainly for of the Background Humans and counterparts to the ones from Equestria which was shown in the shorts), in their swimwear?

Was it great, good, or okay fanservice at best? ^^

Alrighty. I respect your opinion on that. :ajsmug:

Not a huge fan of this but it have it moment

To be fair, it's not like the idea of someone still holding a grudge against Sunset for her previous actions was a bad idea in theory, helping to have Sunset confront her past skeletons in the closet and help with making her character arc come full circle.
