Pony Variants: Geo Ponies

I've been looking forward to adding this Variant to the "Blaze the Pony Tale" mythos. I originally spoke with Secretly Yordle about his own kind of ponies, which we called the Geo Ponies, which I was deeply appealed to and as we talked and started working together, I convinced him to let me portray the Geo Ponies in my story, along with his OCs, these being:

Praetura Amethyst
Jade Diamond
And Terra

Praetura and Jade are Geo Ponies but Terra is an Earth Pony.

Eventually, I found the arc in which I wanted to introduce them into the story of "Blaze the Pony Tale", "Hitting Rock Bottoms", and once I completed it I planned to make a blog of Geo Ponies as a Pony Variant, and so here we are:

Geo Ponies

The Geo Ponies are a unique Variant of Pony, the first of them originating from the Crystal Empire, prior to the fall and corruption of their good King Sombra.

An expedition of Crystal Pony miners (around 30) was sent to find a new place to mine for geode crystal. They succeeded and prepared the start of a mining operation that would never finish, for after a couple of months building on the nascent mine and mining for some samples, the expedition returned to the Crystal Empire, only to find their beloved home enslaved and their king having apparently gone mad with power.

The miner ponies were quickly captured and then experimented on by King Sombra, who wished to create a force of mystically-enhanced slave-soldiers as well as a stronger labor force. His experiments succeeded in changing the miners into larger and stronger ponies while their crystal magic was warped into something new.

Before he could twist their minds and turn them into obedient servants devoid of free will, an incident distracted King Sombra when a mysterious unicorn helped a special prisoner escape. With Sombra distracted and his guard lowered, the poor miners managed to use their new bodies and greater strength to break free of their chains and flee the Crystal Empire. Sombra didn't fund out until long after they were gone and he had no time to search for them as shortly after the Royal Sisters declared war on King Sombra.

The transformed ponies wandered the lands of Equestria, afraid and uncertain, hoping to find sanctuary. Alas, the first village they came upon, the ponies living there saw these poor souls not as refugees in need of help but as monsters. The transformed ponies were driven away, simply because they were different. They struggled to survive in the vast wilderness of a kingdom that was still relatively young and nascent.

It worsened when rumors spread about these "monsters that looked like ponies" and bounty hunters and slayers soon started hunting them. In a confrontation that turned into an ambush, one of the poor ponies was mercilessly killed, causing their leader to go into a vengeful frenzy and kill some of the bounty hunters while the rest fled for their lives.

Looking at his brothers and friends, the leader of the transformed ponies saw horror and disgust, and was overcome with remorse. He prayed to Faust for guidance to give him the strength and wisdom to protect his brothers and lead them to a place where they would be safe. His prayers were answered... by the Legendary Stormbreaker!

Stormbreaker directed the transformed ponies to a great mountain, at the base of which they found a cave that led deep beneath the earth. Before saying goodbye to them, Stormbreaker gave them a blessing, promising that "their Seed would always bear fruit".

It was there where they began to sense their connection to the earth completely surrounding them, sensing the ore, the precious stones and metals, the minerals, and realize the powers they hadn't known they had gained from their former king's experiments. They found they could shape earth with but a touch and so built a subterranean community, where they made a life for themselves, using an underground river for water and nourishing themselves with edible fungi and moss, as well as gardens they maintained on the surface and kept well-hidden.

Realizing their connection to the earth and the powers they wielded that earth ponies and crystal ponies did not, these ponies soon chose a new name for their kind to set them apart and to celebrate their strength. From then on, they went by the name... of Geo Ponies!

However, after several years, the Geo Ponies realized their community and their kind would not last, as they were all stallions and had no mares to give them foals. One pair of the Geo Ponies however were truly in love, despite both being stallions. One day, their lovemaking caused them to spill their Seed onto the ground... and from that same spot sprouted a cluster of unique mushrooms unlike any the Geo Ponies had ever seen.

After examining the mushrooms and determining they were not poisonous, one of the Geo Ponies dared to eat one... and found himself experiencing an almost-overwhelming desire to lay with his mate. This led the Geo Ponies to believe this strange mushroom was some kind of natural aphrodisiac, but after the Geo Pony who'd eaten the mushroom (and making love to his mate) began to show unusual symptoms they were struck dumb when they realized... that he was with foal!

It was then Stormbreaker's words, that their Seed would always bear fruit, made sense, and the Geo Ponies realized their Seed could grow more of these mushrooms and allow them all to have foals with each other.

Generations passed, and due to limited resources and living conditions underground, the Geo Ponies had to set a list of rules for them all to live by in order to keep their community sustainable. Regardless, a few more attempts were made to contact the ponies of Equestria and make peace, but none were successful, which only discouraged the Geo Ponies from their hopes of living on the surface.

As centuries passed however, their resources started to dwindle despite their best efforts and with each generation it became clear that inevitably their community underground would no longer be sustainable.

Then one day, an earth pony named Terra, who was mining in the crystal caves at the base of Mt. Canterhorn, fell down a mine shaft and landed on the snoozing form of the Geo Pony leader, Praetura Amethyst... and the rest is history.

Geo Ponies are perhaps the largest and physically strongest Pony Variant, the first generation being crystal ponies who were subject to magical experimentation in order to produce stronger soldiers and slaves. The average Geo Pony stands much taller than most ponies and are also heavier in mass. Plenty of Geo Ponies stand equal or even taller than Princess Celestia, with the current largest Geo Ponies being the Geo Brothers, Praetura Amethyst and his brother, Jade Diamond (Praetura is the taller of the two but only by a few inches). Another noticeable trait is their manes extend not just down their necks but down theirb acks, along their spines, all the way to the tips of their tails. Their manes (after attuning themselves to gems) can take on crystalline features, which makes them durable as well as sharp whenever a Geo Pony is on the alert. Another trait that differentiates Geos from other pony types is that they have ram-like horns. This was actually another trait that stigmatized the first Geo Ponies by other ponies, who saw them as freaks or monsters.

As a result of the experiments done to the first Geo Ponies, they are omnivorous. Though they do not eat raw meat, preferring their meat cooked.

Geo Magic
Every Geo Pony is able to attune himself to a Gemstone, which influences their magic and their potential and also changes them in some way to reflect the gem he is attuned with. This can include changes of color or pattern in his coat and mane, which can also take on highly durable properties so a Geo Pony's coat and mane are like armor when he wills it.

The characteristics of a gem can determine the magical abilities of the Geo Pony, which also influences the Geo Crystals he can cultivate.

In general, Geo Crystals can have various properties, depending on what kind of crystal or gem is imbued with Geo Magic, and these properties can yield all kinds of uses.

Earthshaping
One of the Geo Ponies' greatest powers is their ability to shape earth matter with but a touch of their hooves. By touching earth matter (be it solid rock, sand, soil, ore, minerals, gems, etc.) a Geo Pony can shape the earth matter however he likes simply by willing it, but it takes practice, much like a potter practicing to mold clay and ceramics.

By this power, Geo Ponies can mold entire homes and buildings by shifting the density of earth matter to make super thick and densely packed walls and roofs. Another application of Earthshaping allows Geo Ponies to "swim" through earth matter by shifting it around their bodies! This is an advanced skill however.

Because of their connection to the earth around them, Geo Ponies can also sense vibrations passing through the earth, which allows them to find their way around even if they can't see, and they can also sense if someone is lying by sensing the change of their breathing rate and heart beat.

Earthen Strength, Stamina and Durability
Geo Ponies are said to be as strong as the earth beneath their hooves, stronger than most Earth Ponies. They possess impressive stamina that allows them to physically exert themselves for long periods and even go without food or water longer than most ponies, and they can hold their breath for up to a full hour!

Depending on their gemstones, Geo Ponies also have highly durable coats and manes, which take on characteristics similar to their gems.

Tails
Geo Ponies have much longer and thicker tails than the ponies of the Three Tribes. Some would compare Geo Pony tails to those of a kangaroo, but they are also surprisingly dexterous, useful for grabbing things, maintaining their balance, and sometimes used as a weapon when their manes, which extend along their tails to the tips, are hardened and sharp. Their tails are also useful for helping them swim.

Horns
Another trait that differentiates Geos from other pony types is that they have ram-like horns. These horns are strong and dense, used as weapons by Geo Ponies when they charge and headbutt a target, and they help to protect their heads as well as reinforce their heads, necks, and shoulders.

Ball Form
Geo Ponies are able to curl up into a ball-like form and roll at high speeds. Their highly durable coats and manes help protect them like natural armor, and by hardening their manes they become more hazardous to their enemies in their ball forms.

Reproduction
Due to their forefathers being blessed by Stormbreaker himself, who decreed the Geo Ponies' "Seed would always bear fruit" Geo Ponies' semen, when spilled upon dirt/soil, will cause a unique kind of mushroom to grow.

These mushrooms, simply called Geoshrooms, are edible and have highly potent properties in boosting fertility and as natural aphrodisiacs. By eating their Geoshrooms, Geo Ponies are able to conceive foals with each other and become pregnant, despite them all being male, which is what allowed them to sire new generations without the need for mares.

When a Geo Pony is ready to give birth, a birth canal forms and an opening appears between the Geo Pony's testicles and his anus, from where he gives birth to his foal. After the birth, the birth canal closes.

Geoshrooms can work on other kinds of ponies too, guaranteeing the pony who eats one will either sire or conceive a foal if he or she makes love while under the Geoshroom's effects.

Geo Stomach
Geo Ponies possess a strange yet amazing ability that is literally contained inside of their stomachs - a pocket dimension! Geo Ponies are able to swallow objects and even living creatures that are contained inside the pocket dimension that is tied to their stomachs, allowing the Geo Pony to carry and transport varying amounts of cargo and even passengers inside of himself, the amount of which is reflected by the Geo Pony's belly blimping out to some degree. What or whoever a Geo Pony swallows is not in danger as they are located in the pocket dimension, not the Geo Pony's actual stomach.

Only food the Geo Pony ate to satisfy his hunger goes to the stomach while anything else he swallows goes to the pocket dimension.

The pocket dimension is always as big as it needs to be in order to accommodate whatever the Geo Pony swallows, but every Geo Pony still has a limit as to how much his stomach's pocket dimension can contain.

When a Geo Pony needs to release cargo or passengers from his pocket dimension all he needs to do... is belch. This magically transports whatever is inside of him to in front of him in a manner akin to teleportation.
