so yesterday my friends who introduced me to the MLP community and fandom asked me a question, and that was after watching the show she asked who I thought was saddest pony ever, based on how they are in the show. and my response to her question actually surprised her. cause in my opinion the pony that has the saddest life, or existence in the show is:
And here are my reasons why I think Scootaloo is the saddest pony in the show.
-the main part of my thinking is the relationship between Scootaloo and her parents, Snap Shutter and Mane Allgood. honestly these two are just horrible parents, and why do I think that? well for one thing is how they are portrayed in the show. these two only showed up once in the entire show, which tells me that they spend 90% of their time away from Scootaloo and Ponyville overall, and choose to be out in the field doing their job. these two ponies decide to spend every waking moment out in the field, studying plants and animals for science and medicine for Equestria. now while that is a good thing, these two are fucking PARENTS! and since Scootaloo is around 10-13yrs (at least that's how I view her and the other Crusaders) this is one of the most crucial times that a parent needs to spend time with their kids, but what do these two workaholics do instead, pay ponies of the town to babysit Scoots, and get Aunty Lofty & Holiday to look after her.
this is what makes me really upset with most parents that spend the majority of their time working, and rarely going home. why would people like these have a kid if they are never going to be around enough to be apart of their kids life, and instead of other people fill in their roles for them?!
-then there's the part from the Episode "Parental Glideance", where Scootaloo says the following: "Growing up I never thought I would be the best at anything, cause no pony ever told me."
You know what THIS says to me. it says to me that Scootaloo's parents are never around to reassure, or comfort her when she feels like she's has her depressing moments, like being unable to fly, or screws up when she fails to get a cutie mark, or to even encourage her that she can do whatever she sets her mind to. or tell her that everything will be okay. Scootaloo also mentions that she writes to her parents all the time in "The Last Crusade" episode and that her parents have read each letter 20 times. um, yeah, if that's true, then WHY THE FCK DID THESE TWO MORANS NEVER HELP THEIR DAUGHTER WHEN SHE WROTE ABOUT HER BAD DAYS, OR HER INSECURITIES!
you would think that if these two actually did read Scootaloo's letters 20 times, then you'd think they'd be around more to help her, or give her words of encouragement, or tell her that no matter what others say about her they think that she's the best kid in the world. but NO! Scootaloo says that "Growing up I never thought I would be the best at anything, cause no pony ever told me.". yeah, way to help your kid you workaholics pricks who decide to forgo being an actual parent, and just stay out in the wilds, and work on doing research on rare animals and plants for the betterment of Equestria, I'm sure your depressed, sad, daughter with abandonment issues, and insecurities thanks you for that.
also Scootaloo's mom is a bucking pegasus, she could've helped Scootaloo with her ability to fly, or schedule some kind of doctor appointments to see if they could do something for her, either with a surgery to make her wings stronger. or what probably is the actual case, give her more magic so she can use her wings for flight (as the show states that pegasus flight is magic based, not biology....I mean Bulk Bicep can fly and his wings are the same size as Scootaloos).
-then when we do see them, they just steam roll over Scootaloos pleas to stay in Ponyville, or even acknowledge their own daughters accomplishments as a trio of fillies that help other kids find their special talents, so they don't have to feel like they did while they were markless. honestly, I'm surprised that Scootaloo isn't as sad, depressed or as spiteful from being neglected by her parents, and being shoved into another ponies care. she could've been another Diamond Tiara, but thankfully her friends and Aunts were there to help her. but still a kid that young needs their parents. there are just something things that no one else can do for a kid, because their not that child's parents. honestly Lofty and Holiday should just take full custody of Scootaloo and me her THEIR daughter, instead of just permeant babysitters until her parents decide to come home and visit. Heck! i would even like for Rainbow's parents to adopt her. because honestly without her aunts and babysitters, Scootaloo is effectively an orphan that has an actual house to live in.
and this people, is why I think Scootaloo is the saddest character of the main cast of MLP: FiM!
but what about you guys? do you agree with my statements about Scootaloo, or do you feel that there is another pony that is the saddest character in the show?

There is a reason so many stories tend to give her a happy ending in some way.

Honestly, I feel like it’s either scootaloo or pinkie pie, not only because of where she lived or her family, but also because I feel like there’s something hiding behind that smile.
