Fiona Briggs looked at the images of the strange creatures on her datapad. At first she thought they were people in fur suits. It took her a moment before she remembered the name, yeah, furries. But these weren't people in suits, this was people in their own fur. What sort of creatures are these she thought. Her first impression was some sort of dog like creatures, the tails and ears on the top of the head seemed to fit the bill. Also the muzzles helped. Dogs and wolves have paws; these creatures had hooves. Some of the strange creatures had horns and wings. She wondered how horse people showed in Paffinsbury, England and how come this wasn't on the news. Fiona looked up at her boss, Nihah Panderwan.

Nihah glanced at Fiona. "I bet you're wondering why there's nothing on the telly or the news."

Fiona nodded. "Also what changed these people. And of course a bigger question, why me?"

"I'll address the larger question first. I know that you've done wonderful work as an anti-terrorist specialist. We believe that your skills will be quite useful in our future projects."

Fiona flipped back to the picture of the strange creatures. "I doubt my background is enough for this."

"No, not that."

"What?"

"Those poor people in Paffinsbury were changed by a strange artifact. We have it in custody. So far it's inert. According to our source, our Paffinsbury ponies are going to help us fight the real terrorists. I'm quite sure you'll want to go back to dealing with dirty bombs and other mundane threats. But your skills are needed here," Nihah gazed at Fiona.

Fiona pursed her lips. It sounded so cliched, but she had a bad feeling about this assignment. "You have a source? I had heard rumors of a parapsychology division."

Nihah shook her head. "No such thing."

Fiona wasn't so sure.
