Hello again, and welcome to another update on the adaptation of 'Howlite Howler' to Of Scales and Fur:
So, you all know Luke, right? The diamond dog that befriends Shiva during her time in captivity, who gives her a way into a Diamond Dog pack and eventually becomes the father to her children?
Well, I'm wondering if I should expand his role a little in 'Of Scales and Fur.'
You see, in 'Of Scales and Fur,' the Diamond Dogs are replaced with the Demi-Wolves; formerly regular dogs, uplifted at first by humans (who are taking the ponies' place) to be used as expendable foot soldiers to get human soldiers off the battlefield. When one of these demi-wolves rebelled, the humans panicked and tried to exterminate them. However, more than a few escaped their extermination. And infuriated by the betrayal, they began a campaign to get revenge on the humans and replace them as the dominant species. In order to do that, they started uplifting other canines and domestic dogs, leading to them eventually finding Shiva, and setting her on her journey.
Originally, I had the Demi-Wolves led by Myst; the first demi-wolf to rebel, and essentially a mixture of Spartacus from Spartacus Blood and Sand and Adam Taurus from RWBY (the fanfiction one that isn't obssessed with Blake)
However, I'm wondering if it might be more interesting to have Luke be the leader instead. Since he's already established in the fanfiction, you guys will know who he is as soon as he comes in. Plus, having him be the leader gives him some of the Spartacus traits, and it could lead to some interesting drama with Shiva, as she has to become the voice of reason and caution despite her own resentment towards the humans that are replacing Beast Breaker and his cronies.
Although, I am worried about whether that takes away from Shiva's ability, as instead of taking her spot as Alpha Female, she essentially just becomes Luke's Queen. Granted, I could go a Daenerys route where the Queen becomes more powerful than the King, or have Shiva become the brains behind Luke's brawn, but it still worries me a little since I personally felt that Shiva walking in and taking charge of the pack was pretty badass.
Please let me know what you guys think. Should I make Luke the leader, or should I use this Myst character instead? I'd love to hear your feedback on this expansion to the adaptation.
Thank you for your time, and have a great day.
Do what you feel is right.
Dunno, but another idea is to have him be a turbulent fellow ruler, or something of the sort.
