Roadmap to Stories · 12:34am Apr 7th, 2021

True I am a new writer still myself believe it or not. I only started writing fanfics for this site in 2019. I was looking for a better way to do story development and have a clear direction in mind for my story plot. I stumbled upon an outline which I like to call a Roadmap for stories. And get this, it's the same type of outline that big movie makers like Pixar and Disney use. The Outline is as follows:

Once upon a time: [This is the setting or world so to speak that you have for your story]

Everyday: [What do your main characters in your story do on a daily basis]

One day: [This is the event that really gets the story started. It's the event that throws your main character in the story's life out of wack]

Because of that: [This is a main event you want to have in your story]

Because of that: [This is a main event you want to have in your story]

Because of that: [This is a main event you want to have in your story]

Until finally: [This is the ending to your story]

Note: Keep in mind that every single main event you have listed in the story does not have to happen. This outline is just a roadmap in the direction that you want for your story.

For me, I always come up with the Until Finally, the ending first for my stories. Because if I have an ending in mind then more than likely I'm bound to finish the story. That's what happened with my canceled stories. I didn't have an ending in mind or a clear direction in mind either. So on those stories, I was just lost on what to do with them in general. Maybe I'll go and rewrite them in the future, maybe not I don't know.
