Testi d'Amore and Writing Queer

I came to the decision some time ago that going forward everything I make is going to be loudly, aggressively, unapologetically queer, because it seems like the closest one can get to a foolproof strategy in creating a place where people can safely be queer. That's why the very first thing I posted on this account is about a polyamorous lesbian relationship that includes a trans girl (and also I was seeing a serious lack of that specific validation; remember kids, be the change that you want to see in the world). The timing of it's approval was... ill fortune. I'm sure no small number of people thought I wrote it as a joke, when nothing could be further from the truth.

I have had the idea for Testi d'Amore in my head for a few weeks, actually. The second and third chapters, anyway. It was the SunFLower Shipping Contest that finally spurred me to get to writing it, and was utterly dismayed to read that it wouldn't be eligible. Nonetheless, it was written in the spirit of that contest, and tbh I probably wouldn't have accepted any money anyway.

Now, the first chapter. I'm just going to be honest: it's bland. It's functional and it's perfunctory, and it also tosses way too much at the reader at once. But it does serve its purpose, I think. And hopefully it -- along with half the conflict of the third chapter -- makes clear that Testi d'Amore is only a small, more loosely written part of a much larger project, devised months ago when I came to the conclusion that it, too, was something suspiciously lacking around here.

But that's for later. For now, it's worth saying d'Amore will probably not see regular updates, but I promise I will try to at least get another chapter out before Pride Month (which will probably also spur another one from me). After that, who knows? I don't know that I'd want it to go for all that long on its own. But rest assured, it is far from the last extremely gay thing you'll see from me. So long as I'm here and the world needs to be a little more colorful, I will be writing.
