I didn't know for how long I'd be writing my fimfic, "Blaze the Pony Tale" back when I started on it. I don't plan to quit and cancel, but I do have to figure out what exactly I want to do and where to go with it.
Some years ago, I thought of going with it to a certain point and then going off in a completely different direction, deviating from the show canon. Maybe even do a time-skip in order to establish this and that, as well as to show the children of the mane characters as foals or young adults. I never figured when would be a good time to do that... until the show ended.
So that brings me to my decision - As of the moment, I'm still in the "Season 6" stage of my story and I've still got a lot to do before I finish that part of it. I've got to add more content regarding my ideas in order to build up to certain things, but now I know exactly what I want to do, so here it is...
I will continue along the show-canon... up to Season 8. After that, I plan to veer off and deviate towards a different storyline instead of continuing the show canon into Season 9.
In other words, I don't plan to implement Season 9 into my story tho I may or may not use this or that from Season 9. I made a similar decision when I decided my story would have nothing to do with "Equestria Girls".
I'm not sure what I'll do after I get through Season 8, but I intend to keep writing this story for as long as possible. Part of me used to wonder if it would have been better to cancel it and restart from scratch, but I'm glad I didn't.
I am however working on-and-off on another story that features an alternate version of my OC Midnight Blaze, alongside Secretly Yordle's OC Terra, and Flash Sentry, with aid from Secretly Yordle. We have ideas but we're not sure where that story will go in the long run.
So yeah, in "Blaze the Pony Tale", Season 9 is canceled and will instead feature whatever I decide once I reach that milestone.
I give my thanks and gratitude to my readers, for all your support, your critiques, your encouragement, and your guidance. I was a very different writer when I began this story on May 21, 2014. I made mistakes, didn't handle a lot of things well, and some fellow bronies on this site took the time to help me figure things out and learn to accept the bad along with the good. It helped me mature and even helped me become a better writer in certain respects.
I wouldn't call myself a perfect writer, certainly not. But I feel working on this story these past years has helped me become not just a better writer but also a better person.
My best to all my fellow bronies and writers and my thanks to all my readers, and remember... Friendship is Magic!

Yeah, S9 is quite... questionable storywise, so you're making no mistake deviating from it)
And man, your story went for so far, I remember reading it when it just started)
S9’s Luna retiring made no sense Celestia ruling for at least 1000 years yeah I can see her retiring but as far as we know Luna hasn’t even ruled for 100 years much less 1000
I also have my gripes about season 9. mainly the whole Scootlaloo’s parents thing. I’m also not a perfect writer either, but i’ll continue reading your fic til the very end.
