So I got a new car · 1:48am Mar 9th, 2021
She's a 1999 Toyota Solara, one of the cars that's basically indestructible so long as you keep the oil changes coming. I have to take her in for a little work (Bad knock sensor that I can't personally replace without removing the intake manifold and... no. Just no. That is a job for someone else.), but she runs great.
She's this nice almost white but not silvery color, but her paint and clear-coat is pretty fubar. Nothing that I can't fix with a rattle can and my time though. And also compound, polish, and wax... basically the whole thing needs polished, and the whole hood needs new clear-coat. I just got her headlights restored too (if you have crappy yellowed or hazed up headlights, go to Walmart or a car parts shop and grab one of the Turtle Wax brand headlight restoration kits. The results last 3-5 years and make them crystal clear, just spend about 5 minutes sanding per light).
She's also got the V6 engine option, and the racing option. So she's more powerful than your stock Solara. Not bad at all. She wouldn't do well in a race these days, but I can get her up to 109 (I was on a highway, at night, and the ice wasn't bad. Don't judge me! I don't normally drive like that. I was making sure all the gears switched smooth to judge transmission health).
Anyways, since she's an old car that's almost white but not really, more powerful than most of her kind, and has a model named for the sun I named her Celestia. Here's hoping that with a little elbow grease I can restore her to like-new condition and get more than the 2800 I bought her for one day.
Here she is before a wash and the headlight restoration. If anyone's interested I can post a photo of what they look like now... but you've all seen enw car headlights so... (Seriously, all the yellowing is is oxidized plastic on the outside of the healight. The UV protective coating wears off over time. Just sand off the crap, polish it smooth, re-seal with any UV resistant clear spray or wipe on compound and they look brand new again)
Praise the Sun!

Vroom!!
Well congrats!!
Hope the car has a long new happy life with you.
Glad to hear!
Good for you! I'm happy you have wheels. Probably need them up there. I'm just glad for mass transit. I drive two miles and I'm ready to scream from pain... glad the grocery store is five blocks...
Got a name for her yet?
One other thing to consider with the V6 Toyota When was the timing belt last replaced.. Agree they are indestructible as long as you keep up with Oil changes
You should meet Biker Dash, his bike Woona, and his truck Nightmare Moon. Now there just needs to be a Cadance vehicle.
5471100 She needs repainted... if I can find pink automotive paint >.>

Suppose white with a hint of pink, given it's not upfront just how light-pink (and not white) Celestia's coat is?
Then again, the more obvious pink could go on top, for her mane, since I doubt you wanna do her "now" mane.
5471063 Yes. I said what it was in the post ya silly :P
5471112 I meant I could go with a a Cadence Pink and change the name, if I can find that in an automotive paint or a quality spray paint lol. I CAN get that pinkhued off white that Celestia uses tho!
Nice.

Okay, so I missed it in my joy of finding out you got yourself a new (to you) car. I'm an old man... forgive me! chuckles some
5471122 Some paint shops can put whatever color code you want into spray cans even automotive grade clear coat.
5471124 I can't, there's nothing to forgive.
5471125 As far as I know, there is no shop like that in Fairbanks Alaska. I'm limited to what I can get locally and for less than 10 bucks a can.

Okay, I'll buy that. May you have many happy days with your little bit of sunshine.
Looks nice
