Thoughts on G5 · 3:46am Feb 26th, 2021
Undoubtedly like many of you, I've also seen the initial images and press releases of G5 of My Little Pony, and I have to say...
I'm intrigued.
I'm not going to be one of those fans. I'm not going to turn away from something just because it's new, because it's not familiar.
Besides, from what that top image reveals, this is a bit familiar. This apparently takes place in the same Equestria, where I'm assuming the reign of Twilight and the rest of her friends has long past.
I'm definitely going to approach this with an open mind. I'd definitely compare it to the opening years of Digimon. Adventure was awesome. Adventure Zero Two was equally awesome while stumbling a bit right at the end. Then Tamers came along and blew me away, and is still, personally, the shining gem of the franchise.
So who's to say what this will be? Friendship is Magic was lightning in a bottle. Let's see if they can do it again.
Also notice how the summary mentions "old enemies"...
It probably means nothing, but if this isn't a troll, then this has to mean something G4 related, considering the movie is our first G5 thing.

Well, one of my main complaints about the ending of G4 was how they just petrified the main villains, kicking the can further down the road.
So, if they can return to that can now, and do it well, I have to say I'll be very impressed.

If G4 villains were to return, they'd be the most likely contenders.
That statement in the summary excites me, but also disappoints me, because I feel it most likely won't happen. But the theory of the villains appearing just... makes sense with this statement if it refers to G4 enemies. And besides, there's always got to be some way to convince those three villains, unless they were freed and exiled off-screen.
All-in-all... I'm already set for what to expect.
Though my head will explode if I end up being correct.

Remember: the Trio's plan was to sow discord (pun intended) amongst the pegasi, unicorns, and earth ponies. And, come the start of G5, it just so happens that that's exactly what's happened.
I'm probably barking up the wrong tree, but at the very least, it makes for good conjecture.

It was CGI to begin with.
I'm with you. Digimon is a great example. Not only did I love Tamers but I liked Frontier, too, and that was VASTLY different. The 'trainers' didn't HAVE partners, they BECAME the digimon.
So yeah, I'm up for giving it a shot.
The one downfall of this style of animation... It's even harder to take the Canterlot Guard (or just Guards in general) seriously.
My worry will and shall always be the story, or more importantly the characters, with the creator's former statements am a bit worried, but we can't know till we see it, so cautiously watching.

Just expect them to be just like the Royal Guards of G4. As incompetent as ever.
And why they look bored or unamused? Maybe Izzy is just one of those hyperactive ones that won't shut up and are slowly driving these two crazy. Or they were tasked with "just escorting them" which in their eyes is the most menial task.
We will never know until we see the whole thing.
I hadn’t seen the top released image yet. On the background shelf are the Mane 6 in figurine. I’m sure these images have be picked clean, but I’m certainly more excited now. I’m all about chibi parodying, but Pony Life really wasn’t very... well, it didn’t succeed as a transformative piece of media in the same way as Iseiki Quartet does. As for for the MLP property, this gets me really excited for a new take. Kinda like how the Transformer Energon Wars took a move away from the classic series, and Prime hit somewhere between the two.
Netflix has really hit it with their animations, but I can’t think of another animated property that they’ve adapted yet. Carmen Sandiego I suppose? Just, please stop adapting, or taking the license of live action anime adapts.
What's up with the unicorn? Why does it look like she has a tennis ball stuck on the end of her horn?....and which one is Izzy?
