I wholeheartedly wish that we could have seen more to Thorax’s personality rather then just is passive friendliness and leadership. I mean, he’s more assertive now, but more than just that. I would have loved to see sass, or insults, or really anything other than “nice.” You can’t tell me he spent his entire life living around Pharynx and other changelings and he didn’t pick up how to throw back a good roast.

Honestly, I blame limited screentime more than anything else. Well, also the fact that he's Cheeselegs' complete opposite and insults don't become a cinnamon roll.
I have to say, that's ultimately the only thing I dislike about the show as a whole: Hasbro forcing them to end at Season 9 really stunted the show's potential. If we'd had even three more seasons, I'm sure a lot of wishes, like seeing more sides of Thorax, hearing Thorax sing, Ember actually apologizing to Thorax for throwing wild accusations at him without having the decency to look even slightly regretful at any point, etc.
We absolutely need more Thorax
I'm still hoping he'll exist in G5 so maybe we can get some of those unfulfilled wishes eventually

Probably an odd thought, but while I do hope we get changelings again, I'm kinda thinking it'd be more interesting to have a Thorax with a different personality in G5. Either that, or keep the cinnamon roll Thorax, but make him start and end as a drone/changeling civilian. Not that I dislike what FiM did with him, not at all, I just don't think the next generation should be identical to FiM.
On that note, I'm hoping every race from Friendship is Magic comes back in G5. Kinda hoping they're all similar to their predecessors (lore- and design-wise) too since I don't think changelings, kirins, or the griffs had nearly enough screentime and development, could probably due with less yaks though. Yona was cute, but I really don't care for yaks in general.
You know, something I just thought of that would be cool: What if, in G5, we get a young changeling (like Ocellus' age) named Thorax who turns out to be named after an important figure in changeling history? Or, even better, is descended from a 'ling named Thorax!

I was thinking more along the lines of what g4 Thorax would be like in the future (since they say g5 will be set in the same world as g4). Your ideas are interesting too and could work nicely, though as things stand now, nothing I can imagine could replace that sweet little cinnabug Thorax
