Skyfall, the theme to "Downton Abbey" & The Hobbit. · 8:03pm Nov 30th, 2012
So, this Wednesday I saw Skyfall at a lovely cinema in town. It's called Lido and it is very posh, with plush carpets, fine furniture and they play smooth jazz. And I loved the film! One of the best ever, I think. I particularly liked this Tennyson quote .
"Tho' much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
I think it is a good summation of modern Britain, and it fits well with the themes explored in the film.
I just found out that Downton Abbey has lyrics for it's main theme, and wow! Have a listen to this.
Today I bought a ticket to go see the Hobbit, and I hope it's as good as I think it will be.
