User 1 said, "…are you really saying “how dare these people want accurate representation of their own culture”?????"
User 2 said, "im sorry that we wanted an accurate portrayal of our culture and myths in one of the rare movies that are about us???"
I replied to them respectively, saying:
"What I intend to say is that you set your expectations way too high. I appreciate the representation and I get it that’s important, but when you complain about something, it’s like you’re being ungrateful to the artists who spent months in finalizing the design."
"I hail from Southeast Asia, specifically the Philippines, and I think it’s a groundbreaking moment for Disney to portray our culture to the best of their abilities. They may not nail every single aspect, but it would be an eye-opener for them."
User 2 said, "while i do appreciate the rep i also think that as a huge company worth a t o n of money, disney could have done a better job. while we shouldn’t be ungraitful we should also continue to ask for better representation imo."
it's good to have better representation. but it's a movie at the end of the day and most people won't care for that representation. I'm not saying it shouldn't be there, far from it but you can't make it perfect as there will always be people that will say that isn't enough as well that a lot of people don't care
