Trixie! Trixie! Trixie! · 12:15am Nov 30th, 2012
I like Trixie.
I am very, very excited about the upcoming Trixie episode.
I have reconciled myself to the fact that my headcanon of Trixie is 99% unlikely to match up with canon Trixie. That's fine, as long as - like almost every character except King Sombra - she has plausible motivations and feels like a well-rounded character.
Anypony want to talk Trixie?
I just read the Piano Man...it made me not like Trixie.
But then I realized that it's just a fic, and then I liked Trixie again.
I need some help.
I cant wait for the new episode either, its good to see she is coming back, she is one of my favorites!

Never read it. What's it like?

I didn't actually care for the blue ham when I first watched Boast Busters, but after re-watching it and thinking about it, I reached the conclusion that she didn't actually do anything wrong. She was loud and rude, yes . . . as part of her show. She got severely punished for it.
I feel she has a surprising amount of depth for a one-off antagonist.
553483 Dark story where she drags a human to Equestria to play the piano for her. I'm not gonna say anymore.
553483
She sure does
I cant truly explain why I like her character so much, but I always liked the antagonists of most shows, and she sure does have a lot of potential
Trixie is neat. Honestly, the thing that has me worried most about the episode is that they'll try to have her somehow redeem herself, which would take away a lot of the fun of the character.
What can I say, I have a soft spot in my heart for the "self-centred asshole who manages to be sympathetic without actually being a good person deep down" character type, and am
not-so-secretly hoping Trixie ends up evolving into that in canon. Don't judge me553489
Does not sound good.

Often, the antagonists are more important to a narrative than the protagonists. We side with the protagonists by default, but an antagonist had better have a bloody good motivation and presence, as they're often the driving force of the story. Case in point: Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

I disagree on her not actually being a good
personpony, though I do think she's an abrasive, self-centered glory-hound. Still, she actually tried to fight the Ursa. That took real guts, and was one of the things that made me like her.And yeah, Trixie's Great and Powerful Personality is a large part of her charm.
553711 Well, "not a good person" was probably a bad choice of words on my part. "Not secretly-not-an-asshole" would have been better, but it's also awkward. Yeah, Trixie's definitely got a streak of "dumb heroism" to her, which makes her an intriguing protagonist (though I'll probably never write any fics with her in the lead because everyone and their mother has done that one and I don't think I have anything new to bring to the table with her.)
The writers definitely did a good job with Trixie, though. Hopefully they bring back Chris Savino to write Magic Duel because he did a great job with her the first time around.

Fair enough. I personally think Trixie's real persona is likely nicer than her stage persona, but that doesn't mean she's sweet and cuddly.
Trixie is going to be a villain next episode...

Trixie is going to be an antagonist next episode, and I strongly suspect this will relate to the promised season-long story arc.
FiM has an excellent track record with their antagonists.
554337 Yeah, but still, Trixie being anything "bad" makes my heart cringe. I just hope she turns out good in the end... Same as Gilda.
Twilight's reaction to seeing Trixie again in S3 vs Twilight's reaction to Trixie's S1 fleeing Ponyville and tone have dramatically changed over time. It's like Twilight is so full of her magic that it's almost unthinkable for someone like Trixie to being a match for her. Ok that last part is going too far ahead of myself.
What I meant to say is, that her reaction now is almost oppisite of what she'd had hoped for Trixie to learn, and that gestured to Snips and Snails, who Twilight knew was responsible for the Ursa Minor, to clean up the mess in they made (it stops and highlights Trixie's stage wagon) as if a hint that Twilight expected Trixie to someday return to retrieve her belongings. At the very least, I doubt Twilight condemned or thought Trixie as 'never allowed in Ponyville again' train of thought.
The whole Trixie finds a cursed amulet, and possibly being used by a higher power that created said enchantment ( Black and Red Alicorn? idk if that's a joke to the fandom or what) and possibly to ruin Ponyville by way of taking care of it's resident guardian Twilight. Trixie's urge to becoming best unicorn in all the lands, to be seen as nothing but the best, is a good flaw that most villains can exploit. I just hope Trixie truly isn't condemned to being all bad this time.
She even stayed behind, be it pride for not wanting to look bad in front of the kids or to protect them, or a mix of both, or just plain too scared to run.... to now merging Snips and Snails horns together and going back to being a bully of sorts by doing what she did to others the last time.
I like Trixie as chaotis nuetral personally. She wants to achieve greatness despite not really being so great. She's got confidence and pride that make Rainbow Dash look like a saint. Though, to be fair, Trixie seems to have it in check unless she's called out to prove her boasts. I really really hope that Twilight's cocky grin doesn't lead to her getting an easy win on Trixie when she gets her necklace off Zecora to counter Trixie's. It'd been nice if Trixie had learned to become great and powerful through rigorous training and THEN stealing a powerful artifact from her teacher
Something that would lead to a even match should both amulets break under each others magical strain.

The Office's Boss guy had the best no. He really doesn't want Trixie to be an evil villain. Antagonist sure~ but straight up evil? /sadface
I'm not into the pony clop fics usually but Dam, Trixie be sexy
558053
Same here. I don't read clop, and the idea of sexy ponies is kind of weird to me, but . . . Trixie is sexy.
I think her color scheme helps. Very pleasant and soothing.
I have always found Trixie to be perhaps the most well fleshed out one shot character. She appears as the perfect reflection of Twilight. both skilled in magic, where Twi is humble, Trixie is boastful. where Twi is shy, Trixie is confident and thrives on attention.
She got a very bum rap though. anybody with half a brain would have seen that most of her stories were inflated, but that was her job - to tell a entertaining story.
Where Gilda was a one tone jerk, Trixie had a few moments of vunerability that hinted at a good mare under the stage persona.
She had her unique third person speech which makes her memorable.
Personally I hope that Trixie isn't being controlled by the amulet or anything of that nature. Is it really so hard to accept that maybe Trixie simply is a bitch?
I really like Trixie...especially when she isn't being used for a doormat in fanfics.
