You can blame this piece of inspiration for the ending. To me, the scene of Cooper approaching his aged daughter in the hospital bed was something that haunted my mind for a good portion of my teenage life. Although, not directly, I realize that this has influenced the way I write endings- bittersweet.
It’s no wonder that subliminally... this was the ending I chose. Full circle with Dazzle back in her father’s embrace. Oddly enough, the whole story was built around this scene. When I came back to it after a long hiatus, I had trouble picking up where I left off. But what kept me going was the ending. I tried to change it, but then again, changing it would betray the integrity of the story.
