Brief panic averted · 5:46am Jan 7th, 2021
Last week, I published the second to last of my buffer for The Primrose War. Oh boy did that ever set a fire under my ass to get moving and finishing the plans I'd had. Three whole new chapters in the last week (Hooray for holidays!) and after that, I return to what I had prewritten for my second draft (before I realized that I had a ton of stuff left out).
On Saturday, (or Friday night) a new chapter of The Primrose War will come out and there will not be a delay. I have beaten the lazies back and gotten back into the writing with a vengeance. I've written close to 15,000 words in the last few days. It feels good to get so much out and explore these burgeoning relationships and the things leading up to and after them.
Book 2, chapter 17: Beachside Reminiscing
I will, at that point, have three weeks of buffer. That should be enough time for my lazy butt to finish book 2, chapter 21 and beyond.
Also, chapter 50 is approaching (overall chapters) and I've been publishing this story for more than half a year. Good grief, it's been a journey. I've learned a lot, feel like I've grown as a writer, and even gotten better at judging the final lengths of chapters. I'm even getting better at just sitting down and writing, which is something I've struggled with in the past. Whether that writing makes sense is another matter, but I usually manage to listen to reason, whether it comes from me or my editors.
Also! The gala approacheth. *gazes into crystal ball* In another two or three months (10-12 chapters), we'll be on the doorstep of the Gala and the beginning of the end of book 2.1
Also also, we are approaching the point where Carapace will start publishing his story concurrently with mine.
1Subject to change as I get around to processing things and figuring out what's missing and whether I can rework what I have or need to write entirely new material. Isn't watching sausage get made fun?
I'm already mourning for how quickly my buffer will start to shrink.
