Words for Christmas 2020 from a Positive-Minded Person · 5:11pm Dec 25th, 2020
Hello everyone. Happy Holidays.
This year has been a strange one with many unusual trials and tribulations. While in some ways I'm glad it's over and that hope is in sight, believe it or not, I don't think year has been all bad.
Not just for me at any rate. And certainly not the worst year in history many have been saying it is.
I do feel that too much negativity can damage a society at large and negativity seems all too common.
People are scared and you can't expect too much sense out of them when they're scared (Terry Pratchett said that) but reason, perspective and effort are key to dealing with any crisis, personal or otherwise.
For now, though, what matters today on this year is much like any other year on this particular day; finding a way to stay by those you love, even indirectly, make sure they know how much you mean to them and remind yourselves that you are together whatever happens.
News has gone on about politicians making blunders or celebrities disgracing themselves. But that is a small percentage of humanity at large and humanity has prevailed. Disaster, terror, prejudice, unrest and uncertainty. All of these things and more have buffeted us and people have spoken of apocalypse and the end of society but what do I see today?
I see a pink clouds in a winter's sky. I see lights of many colours shining in and out of people's windows. I see frost on glass and stone and mist in one's breath. I see people passing by as I take my daily walk and I hear 'Merry Christmas'.
If 2020 marked the end, it certainly doesn't look like it.
Perspective is the gift humanity gives itself.
Use it well this year and the next.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
Merry Christmas!
Merry CHristmas!
Well said, Patch. Very well said indeed.
And Merry Christmas to you as well.
