So I Bought a New PC...

So I bought a new PC back in early November when HP started sales for Black Friday. (HP Pavilion Desktop if anyone was curious) I was getting it because my old Desktop (HP Envy I think) was shutting off randomly. Not good when you have ZOOM calls for college and proctoring extensions that monitor your PC during tests.

So, wisdom teeth are out! ...owwwww.......

So, I ended up getting my wisdom teeth removed (all four of them) yesterday. The best part was I didn't know what was going to happen until the night before.

So I Bought a New PC... · 8:09pm Dec 21st, 2020

The new PC came in, I set it up, installed my apps and games from Steam. Everything was working great. Then after I stepped away to make myself some food, I came back and BOOM! Screen was frozen. I moved the mouse, typed on the keyboard, restarted the monitors, everything I could think of. When nothing worked, I restarted the system and it worked fine....
...For about half an hour when I walked away, came back, and boom again. Screen frozen.

I figured out that the PC would only freeze if it was left idle. So I'd play a stopwatch app on one screen and aside from an occasional blue screen, it stayed alive. But once the semester was done, I'd send it in.

Well cut forward to now and my new PC's getting repaired and my old PC has started freezing during start up. So now I'm down to my last line of defense; a 10+ year old laptop. It has a brand new battery in it and it has never failed me before (famous last words).

But if this one breaks, that's it. I'm out of computer options until the new one comes back from HP. ugh...

I know this sounds like a stupid problem to complain about but it has been my nightmare for the last two months. Not sure if people even read these blog posts to be honest but I wanted to just rant. Thanks for reading!

And Happy Holidays to all!

try having a dumby operating system on a usb stik, and download the programs you use one by one, if it fails after a specific install of a program, then that program might be a problem

When I noticed the problem, I didn't have too many programs downloaded. I only had big name programs like Discord, Steam and Microsoft Visual Studios. I hadn't downloaded any games from Steam by that point and the only small downloads I did was Firefox.

So rather than uninstall the programs, I did a factory reset on the PC and monitored it as it reinstalled everything. Then, without installing anything, I just opened up whatever browser came preset on the system (I think Edge) and played a YouTube video. Then after I left it idle like before, I came back and the system was frozen again.

When it froze that time, I didn't install anything either. So by that point, I didn't know what was going wrong and the support team I called recommended sending it back.

you might be unlucky and have malfunctioning hardware, or whatever hardware your using wasnt made to run windows 10, like if you picked up a dell optiplex off of ebay for like $60, it most likely was ment to run windows xp, maybe even vista, but someone loaded 10 on it and said good to go
