So, I've been ill. Signed off work until the New Year. Yay.
(I had a negative COVID-19 test last month, but was then diagnosed with a nasty chest infection. I'll be back. Too many stories left to tell.)
More pressingly (well, not really, but, y'know, priorities, amirite?), Away seems to have had some kind of mini-bump in views and bookshelf adds while I've been, er, away. Only a handful, but noticeably more than usual. I can't tell from the stats whether it's been featured, mentioned or panned somewhere, and I haven't added it to any groups or done anything to promote it since the spring. Any ideas, anypony?

Whatever it was (the Away thing, I mean), it seemingly happened 3 days ago, but I only ever seem to see notifications from the last 2 days, so I might have missed it being added to a shelf somewhere or something. (And for all I know, that shelf was called Terrible Stories anyway!) I have no idea what I'm doing.

One trouble with COVID-19 is that people seem to forget other diseases can still happen.
I've had mini-bumps for fics occasionally that seemed entirely random. Knowing how fluctuating probabilities and life in general work, they probably are. It's a little known fact that, in psychological experiments, people tend to see meaningful patterns in deliberately randomized phenomena (so, for instance, they're more likely to interpret random clusters of dots on a screen as significant when it's really no more significant than the rest of the dots on the screen).
Of course, it does help to rule out more causally interesting possibilities by checking for recent reviews or suchlike, as you have done.

Thank you! I hope I'm through the worst of it now, just sleeping and coughing a lot. Doctors were a bit concerned last week (I've had problems with my chest in the past and was very wheezy) but this week they signed me off to rest up for another fortnight with instructions to call if it gets worse. Mostly just tired!

It's so weird, though. That story has never been popular, and then it's got something like 10% of its total all-time views in the past 3 days. I mean, I'm happy it's being read (I think it's one of the better things I've written), so it's all good, but the total narcissist in me wants to know what someone said about my story!
