I'll be banned from the site again

Due to, of course, more transphobia and disagreeing with site-majority opinions, I have been informed that I will be kicked off the site permanently starting tomorrow. I have prepared a farewell message in the comments below.

    Happy Easter!

And to those who don't celebrate Easter, too bad, I'm going to impose it on you. Happy Easter. Jesus Christ died for you too, and because He rose from the dead, so can we all.

Fluttershy and the Lava Demon: A Tale of Friendship

My first AI art post. It isn't my art, since a computer for Bing generated it, but I had to share. And I always follow a strict "lacerate-demons-on-the-spot-with-a-shotgun-and-chainsaw" policy, but I can make an exception for this one.

    Artificial Intelligence

"Bradybunch, everyone's already given their opinions on it!" Yeah, I know. But before I left the site for two years for a mission, AI was barely cohesive enough to give slurred and static-like voice replication, nonsensical chatbots, and meaningless swirls of shape and color for art. Then, all of a sudden, AI got really good, so I had to try it out. I'm using Bing's AI image generation, which is

    LOTR will never be equaled.

I was thinking about it while playing Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. (My brother gifted them to me for my birthday.) And honestly, the more I reflected on it, the more it made sense. There's a few things that compare in literary achievement, like Dune, but it never made it into modern public consciousness until, like, three years ago. And besides, LOTR wasn't just popular or good-- it

Letitia Wright gets canceled on Twitter and deletes her account · 8:36pm Dec 6th, 2020

The tolerant crowd takes another victim. The actor for Shuri in Black Panther tweeted out a video questioning the vaccine. And to Twitter, questioning the reliability of a vaccine not even a few months old makes you an insane Anti-vaxxer.

Thousands of people called her that plus transphobic (Even though I have no idea what prompted the transphobic part. Just go along with the accusation, everyone, it's all cool.) Even Don Cheadle, War Machine himself, joined in. But don't worry, Twitter definitely supports woman's rights and black lives and their right to speak up... unless it's for black women who disagree with the public narrative. Then they support their right to shut their mouth and get censored.

Letitia apologized for sharing the video. That was the biggest mistake she could make. No one noticed. No one cared. They kept on saying transphobe and BLM and antivaxxer and you want to kill people with Covid.

Meanwhile, Donny had a hard time choosing sides. He agreed with the mob, and they thought he was one of them. But as he scrolled through the people calling her out, he began to get squeamish. He said he'd never defend anyone posting what she posted, but he wouldn't throw her off Twitter. He had no idea how far the mob went in targeting Letita. He later claimed he was actually defending Letitia and said the mob was crazy, but the mob quickly turned on him for that and canceled him as well. His "defense" came too little too late.

The MSM soon joined the party. I quote: "The Cancel Media is responsible for bullying Letitia Wright off social media. They'll now victim-blame Letitia for having 'dangerous opinions' that resulted in this 'deserved backlash.'" News headline after news headline reads with the same words: Letitia Wright, transphobic, anti-vax, backlash, and cancel. It's like they're celebrating it. And as the bullying continued, she deleted her account. You can see it on Twitter for yourself.

These animals bullied an actual hardworking, successful black woman off Twitter, and they have the gall to say they're the good guys.

Thank you, Don Spineless Cheadle. Maybe that crippling hit you took in Civil War had a bigger effect than we know.

On the other hand, getting kicked off Twitter is like a badge of honor now. Welcome to the club of having a different opinion, Letitia.

I assume the tweet no longer exists.

Ok now that's ridiculous. Apparently, you can be anyone you want to be, as long as it's what others want you to be, which is hypocrisy at its best. I don't have social media for exactly this reason

Part of the issue is that the video was uploaded by a youtube channel that has a history of spreading misleading information on vaccines.

5410858
Fair enough. But still, ponies are entitled to their opinions, and being wary of a vaccine that hasn't been around for all that long is ok. In September a ton of Oxford University students took part in vaccine trials and ended up with severe nerve damage, so she has a right to be cautious.

5410862
Good point. Vaccines have caused side effects, that is true, and sceptisism is a natural human trait. But there is a difference between 'having an opinion' and 'spreading misinformation', especially with a vaccine that is 95% effective.

To quote Isaac Asimov, "an unfortunate consequence of freedom of speech is the belief that one person's ignorance is as valid as another person's knowledge."

5410866
You have some good points as well. There's a fine line between free speech and spreading lies or other hurtful things. Me? I'm cautiously optimistic that the vaccine will allow us to start rebuilding our lives, but I'm not going pin all of my hopes on anything.

5410873
The vaccine won't be the only factor in defeating covid. We need to all work together to see the virus off and send it packing.

Cautious optimism is the norm among scientific researchers. Unfortunately, laypeople aren't always attuned to the scientific community. I don't use Twitter, but I'll assume her post wasn't bashing on vaccines and just cautious.

5410896
The video she'd retweeted was from a YT channel with a history of spreading misleading information about vaccines.

Freedom of expression doesn’t mean freedom of consequences. Spreading misinformation is bad, would you defend an holocaust denier for posting fake holocaust memes? you can be sceptical and ask questions but posting misinformation is not part of any process to learn on a subject. If you post a video on a certain opinion that means you probably agree to that opinion.

Also, yes she is black and a woman, bringing identity politics like it’s a gotcha is pretty silly. Not every leftist/progressive/liberals agree about idpol and gender/sex/race don’t have anything to do with what she did.

Brady, you've hit the ball out of the park. People on Twitter these days are absolute animals! They say that in the world we live in, people have a right to speak out and have freedom of opinion and belief, but that's hardly the case. For instance, if someone said something like "Trump stinks", people get off scot free. But, if a Christian said something like "homosexuality is wrong", people who disagree with him attack the guy like animals, and I know that from experience.

I don't even understand why Letita's getting such a bad rap, and I don't recall seeing any comments by her that would put someone like you and me off.

5411007
Ah, I see. Still, mistakes can be made and we can all be tricked by misinformation. It's not fair to "cancel" someone over a mistake. But maybe I'm already growing too old. The thought of this new cancel culture is bizarre to me.

5411216
That's the thing about "freedom of speech." When you're free to speak, you're free to receive criticism. People must learn to be responsible with what they say, but the exact same goes for the critics.

5411216
You're missing a rather crucial detail here, Undercover. The video she reposted was from a channel known for spreading misinformation about vaccines. I'm all for freedom of speech mate, but there's a difference between 'expressing an opinion' and 'spreading misinformation'. This is an especially important distinction in these pandemic years, where receiving the correct information could mean the difference between life and death.

5411257
I agree the backlash was too extreme.

5411257
Remember when Cancel Culture was a bunch of people trying to blame a school shooting on Marilyn Manson because it wasn't ok to even humor the idea that maybe, just maybe; the parents dropped the ball somewhere?
Can we go back to that?

5411216
Yeah. It is ridiculous that a lot of people think that Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion begins and ends with their belies and opinions, and that everyone who disagrees is 'Anti-American'.

5411497
No, I don't remember that. I don't know a thing about where cancel culture came from or where it's at right now.

5411545
Cancel Culture is just the most currently used term for when enough people get bent over something and the aforementioned something is forced to be censored or is removed entirely from the general public eye.
While it happens just about everywhere you find entitled brats with access to social media, who aren't mature enough to handle the thought of coexisting with people who disagree with eachother; pople who engage in it accuse the opposing side (political, ethical, ect) of weaponizing it while insisting that when they do it, its a matter of social or moral justice. With the rise of social media and the illusion of anonymity, the aforementioned brats are more active in forcing their worldview on others.
It is also worth mentioning that even the most polite and respectful counterpoint can have you on the receiving end of a Cancel Culture tantrem; being accused of bullying or censoring 'Truth'.
