Midnight Rising and Knee Surgery Update · 12:18am Dec 2nd, 2020
Sorry to not keep readers updated, but I've found it hard to feel creative over the past week. You'll understand, it's a little difficult to be interested in writing, especially sexual stuff when you're recovering from knee surgery (or really any surgery), as your body devotes its energy to healing instead of to more pleasurable pursuits.
I had the procedure last Monday, now eight days ago. For those who are interested, the procedure was arthroscopic, meaning it was basically through two very small tubes inserted on either side of my kneecap; one for the camera and one for the surgical instruments. That makes it minimally invasive (though you still end up with a very stiff and swollen knee), and it went off without a hitch.
To my happy surprise, there was very little post-operative pain. They gave me the a week's worth of the good stuff (i.e., opioids) but I didn't need any of it; the only painkiller I took was a couple Ibuprofen the first night, and none since. My knee is getting steadily better, though it will be at least a couple more weeks before I can chance running on it again. For the record, I like to run 10Ks at this point, doing generally a couple of them a week. I have designs on one day running a half-marathon, so it would be nice to be able to do so without left knee pain. My surgeon told me he cleaned up some loose cartilage, so hopefully that will do the trick.
We'll find out in time. As for the Midnight Rising revamp, existing readers may recall that the next chapter was originally the Fleur de Lis chapter, who wasn't one of the Shadowbolt Six but was present at the Friendship Games. So I invented a backstory and scenario for her involving the four Shadowbolt boys present--Jet Set, Neon Lights, Trenderhoof and Pokey Pierce. In the original version, Midnight didn't really punish the Shadowbolt males. But this time...?
This time, I've decided to add a new twist. A gay one, as Midnight does take exception to some of their advances--in hindsight, it really doesn't make sense that she wouldn't. Some male-on-male action was the one thing missing from the last version of story, but it does exist in Nightmare Night, so why not here as well? It also gives me an excuse to introduce some gay action with the cross-portal arrivals later, of a very specific type. If you're not interested, feel free to skip, and be assured that there will be plenty more MF and FF action to come.
As for Fleur, her section will be shunted to the following chapter, and I've also decided I'll introduce some action involving Principal Cinch herself. I didn't include her originally because I didn't think there'd be much interest in her, but with a more years of writing experience under my belt, I think I could do something suitable with her. And last but not least, I plan to rewrite the Sour Sweet chapter completely because it really doesn't sit well with me right now.
So... lots of changes coming, as my healing knee (and still-suppressed libido) allows. I will aim to release the next updated chapter this weekend. The comments I've received have very much been appreciated, as I'm basically releasing the story all over again.

Appreciated, thanks. Still waiting for the swelling to fully subside so I can see just what good the surgery did. I'm not allowed to run on it until at least three weeks after the procedure.
