Er der nogen her dansk? · 8:51pm Nov 17th, 2020
Or if you're not Danish, do you know anyone who is? <.<
Because I just found out gåsebryst exists and I want a recipe that I don't have to Google Translate.
I mean, just look at this delicious mofugga.
I WANTS IT D:
I'm more interested in figuring out how to make Hungarian Kürtőskalács, myself.

what the heck I want it right now
Jeps, jeg er. Hej fra Danmark.
I'm Danish, and I've never seen this before. But I could find out, of course.
Looks artery clogging delicious.
On edit: damn, there are like a dozen variations and apparently a deep factional divide between at least three tribes of Danish baking enthusiasts on the topic of what is a) the original and b) the best recipe.
But if you want, I can definitely find out. This promises to be fun.
Fun factoid: it's called 'gåsebryst' (goose chest) because of this: before there were kitchen appliances, getting marzipan completely flat and even was difficult. It usually developed a surface structure reminiscent of a goose's chest.
That looks absolutely delicious. My arteries hurt just looking at it.

This divide surprises me not.
See what you can find out! If something looks reasonable, send it my way, I don't even care if the measurements are in metric, I'll deal. :D

It's marzipan?!? Oh man, I have got to get me some of this stuff ASAP haha.
God, I haven't had Gåsebryst in years, I'm feeling a sudden urge to go raid the local baker and get way too many.
I see Celefin has already volunteered to go hunting for recipes (hello fellow dane), and they seem to be putting a lot of effort into it so I shan't step on toes there.
I will say that you have an experience in front of you, Gåsebryst manages to be even MORE delicious than it looks.
Please post a separate blog with the results, PP. I'm intrigued.
Not Danish, but this looks very similar to Swedish prinsesstårta (princess cake). The Danish Wikipedia article on gåsebryst makes it sound like it's practically the same thing.

Yeah, the two do seem very similar if not identical.
You know what I want? I want Danish mead.
Appears to be the comfort food that 2020 calls for.

Dansk Mjød :D
That looks like someone stuffed a teepee full of cream as a prank but it also accidentally killed a native person who is now a mild red blob and now I'm a giant and I'mma eat the whole thing.
