    River City Equestria Girls?

Seriously, that's Pinkie Pie on the left, and Rainbow Dash on the right. Tell me I'm wrong.

I will not write a fanfic about the two of them getting into all the fights.

    Probably.

An "I don't have livejournal anymore" sort of update.

    It snowed yesterday.

Which just reminded me how much I don't like winter. It wasn't even a bad snow, just enough of a dusting to linger for a little bit. First one of the season. And I even had the day off from work, due to my schedule, so it's not like I had to do anything ...

    So I didn't.

    Happy Halloween!

So yeah. Despite various distractions (Steam had Darkest Dungeon for UNDER FOUR BUCKS), I've managed to hammer out a ridiculously shippy conclusion to the self indulgent Rarijack story I started.

So that's fun? I gave myself a deadline to finish things on Oct 31, so that's what I did, dangit. Hopefully you guys will enjoy.

Miniatures! · 2:57pm Oct 27th, 2020

Because Ponygrad asked for it! And also because I'm lazy and putting off doing actual productive things.

See, over the last couple of months, I've been painting minis to pass the time. It's relaxing to sit down and do something with your hands, with a podcast or YouTube or some random netflix show in the background. (Sidenote, I'm almost out of Hannibal episodes, which means I'm gonna have to find something new for background noise).

At the beginning of the summer, I was working through a backlog of 40k minis, though awhile back I switched to Reaper minis for the variety. Painting dozens of orks or imperial guardsmen gets tiring after awhile, so it's interesting to switch things up. I had a whole mess of unpainted Bones minis sitting around from one of their kickstarters anyway ... though this hasn't stopped me from snagging more than a few minis on top of that based on the sole fact of 'they looked cool.' That, and I've found I enjoy painting metal minis a lot more than plastic ones-- the metal tends to have sharper detail, especially compared to soft Bones plastic.

Anyway, time to show off, I guess? It's by no means a comprehensive account of all the stuff I've painted, and I'm not gonna win any awards anytime soon, but at least when the world isn't on fire anymore I'm gonna run a seriously kick-ass D&D game or something.

If I get -really- self indulgent I could probably write up a EQG fic about painting minis and/or tabletop gaming, buuuut I've got enough on my plate as-is.

Anyone else taken up a new hobby and/or started up an old one?

And the minis will almost certainly be possessed by Equestrian magic and come to life. Hopefully they're D&D figurines and not Warhammer.

In any case, lovely work. Can't say I've really taken up a new hobby, but my local game store is running Magic tournaments under careful biohazard protocols, which have been quite fun.

I've taken to putting together Gundam Model kits.

I've taken up RPG-ing again, and I'm assembling a Dark Heresy group with some friends.

Oooh, Gunpla! I've got a kit or two tucked away somewhere that I should assemble at some point.

I trust you've watched Gundam Build Fighters? As you should watch Gundam Build Fighters. The later series get into anime tropey 'stuck in an MMO!' bidness, but at least the first two rank up there with my fave Gundam series (along with G-Gundam and 08th MS Team. I am a man of discerning taste).

If nothing else, the Gundam Build Fighters shows are the only anime I've ever seen with a completely justifiable reason for 14 year olds to be in mecha cockpits.

And plus, the show's up for free streaming on YouTube. Neato!

Nice work! To while away the plague year(s) I've taken up building musical instruments:

Very snazzy
