Sunset's Steps: Re-Writes · 12:24am Oct 8th, 2020

Hello fellow bronies,

After some feedback, I've decided I want to make some rewrites of my Sunset's Steps series.

So to start, I've decided I am going to edit the least liked scene of Look In the Mirror to Find the Truth: Big Mac's threat to Sunset. I realize I went a bit over the top with that. Over the next few days, I am going to back to other parts of my stories that many of you complained about, and give them the TLC they deserve.

This is a thanks to all the people who provided me with constructive criticism.

EDIT: Any one who wants to make suggestions, please do so.

Sincerely,

Redandready45.

give quick a much harsher punishment!

So to start, I've decided I am going to edit the least liked scene of Look In the Mirror to Find the Truth: Big Mac's threat to Sunset. I realize I went a bit over the top with that.

"A bit" over the top? I'm sorry to sound rude, I really am, but I read that scene and dropped the story and its follow-up like a hot potato. I just could not buy that Big Mac would ever, in a million years, act like that towards someone - even someone who'd caused such trouble for his family. :rainbowderp: The idea of the character threatening violence and murder towards a young woman felt really unpleasant to me, and frankly unrealistic, or perhaps even unfaithful to the fundamental nature of Big Mac's personality; that he's a quiet, gentle man despite his size and strength.

I don't doubt that you were trying to aim for something more realistic in having him be angry at Sunset for the crap she's pulled, and I do think that he would lay down the law with her. But I do think he'd put it in far less extreme terms than shouting at her and threatening to physically harm or even kill her if she ever goes back to her old ways. :ajbemused:

I feel like people need to sympathize with Sunset a little more. Sure she got someone arrested, but some people are acting like she planned for Quicks friends, sorry I cant remember her name, to get molested and paralyzed. Though I feel like your doing a good job in your later steps, I especially love the Gilda and Sunset talk you had in the anon-a-miss story.

And sometimes a less severe threat can be MORE brutal than a vicious one.

Yes, I suppose... but I'd still consider the more important issue to be whether or not the threat feels appropriate to the character, rather than its viciousness.

So out of curiosity is there a new chapter coming soon to What Happened to Sunset's Family?
