God this chapter is horribly [edit: Emotionally] painful.
Like. I've read worse. But I don't think I've written worse.

Your writing can't be worse than mine. From what I've read of your stories, you're a much better author than me.

Hehe I meant horrible/bad in terms of emotional pain and graphic suffering.
While recognizing I am a long way from Ursua Le Quin I rather like my writing.

Also have I complimented you on your King in Yellow icon? That's a pretty neat icon.

No you haven't. But you're the first to recognize it.

No one reads the classics any more.

I'm actually more a fan of Derleth's writings in cosmic horror than I am Lovecraft's, a little less racism. Don't get me wrong, I like Lovecraft's work, especially his ability to make you feel the character's paranoia, of course it helped that he was a complete and total emotional trainwreck.

Quite agreed on Lovecraft.
If you haven't read the King in Yellow by Robert Chambers I highly recommend it. Not exactly Hastur's origin -- I think he comes originally from 'ominous hints' in a Ambose Beirce story? Thus some of the fascination. I also like Laird Barron and Thomas Ligotti for a modern take on cosmic horror.
I haven't read a ton of Derleth's mythos stuff. I should fix that.

Lovecraft got his idea for Hastur the unspeakable from that story. He also heavily referenced the works of Howard in his stories, seeing that the two were correspondence friends.
