After the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well incident, Shepherd is scolding Twilight, Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Rarity.

Shepherd: "Okay... Seriously girls? You staged this elaborate hoax just to take Rainbow Dash down a peg? Come on!"

Twilight: "Well, I mean, it wasn't just that. We did save the town several times!"

Shepherd: scowl

Applejack: "And we did save a lot of folks from death!"

Shepherd: scowl

Fluttershy: "Um... Well um...? Dash was just... Well... Getting on all our nerves and-Oh dear..."

Twilight: wince "We're sorry."

Applejack: "Yeah. Sorry."

Pinkie: "Three cheers for us all being sorry! Hip hip! Hoorayyyy!"

Rarity: "I have nothing to apologize for! I just made the outfit!"

Shepherd: "Dash? How are you feeling?"

Rainbow Dash: "Well... I forgive you all. I was getting a little carried away... But I could use some cuddles from Shepherd to really feel better!"

Twilight: "Hey wait a minute-!"

Shepherd: chuckles and cuddles Dash "All right, here you go."

Dash: "And you all have to watch! Mmmm~!"

Pinkie: "What?! Oh come on!"

Dash: "Cuddle me good, Shepherd~! I'm your cuddle toy! Cuddle me until I can't think of anything but your hands!"

Shepherd: "This is just a bit weird-"

Dash: "Don't stop now~!"

Rarity: "Yes, don't~."

Given the sheer number of disasters that befall Ponyville over the course of the episode, I like to think that this one actually takes place in an alternate timeline where Twilight never gave herself a self-fulfilling prophecy. Nopony disasterproofed Ponyville, hence Murphy's wrath.

Mind you, Twilight still might have gone back in time to tell herself a different message.

"Whatever you do, don't—" One moment, Twilight was in Golden Oaks. The next, she was back in the Star Swirl the Bearded Wing, blinking the artron energy out of her eyes. "Dress up... to... Ugh. Why couldn't she just accept the evidence of her own eyes?"
"I say it's the eyepatch," said Spike.
Rainbow Dash snorted and crossed her forelegs. "Hey, if you only get one chance to go back in time, you gotta look cool."

I do feel that this episode was extremely forced in every plot points to drive home the message. Like, it's almost Fairly Oddparents or Dan Schneider's sitcoms level of forced.

However, I still think the rest of Rainbow Dash's friends were in the right because of how extremely and dangerously neglectful Dash was being just to satiate her fragile ego. I'm pretty sure trying to show off and gloat while holding off on saving people from certain death is a bad thing. And since Dash's stubbornness rivals Applejack's, it stands to reason that the rest of her friends take extreme measures to get the right lesson through her thick skull.
