My View On 'bronies' is Slowly Declining and Close to Severing. · 8:51am Sep 20th, 2020

...I'm sorry that I keep making these 'negative' blogs :facehoof: but I kinda need to confront the situation for myself, and maybe discuss it with someone.

So, I think I've mentioned it before, but I myself am not sure if I'm a brony or not. I always see myself as an 'MLP fan', not a brony. It's something like... "I'm not an otaku, I just like this anime". Forgive me that I can't give a better example, I'm not saying bronies are technically otakus or anything :twilightoops:

Also, don't get me wrong, I still love MLP as ever, this long after the season finale aired~ I love the characters, I love the world, I love the pony races and others like gryphons, dragons, and such. Heck, if I don't, I won't be here making fanfics about them, right?

But you know what? The fandom, who's still alive and well by the way... Is it just my bad luck, or lately all I see are incredibly toxic stuff spewing from the guts of the community?

The most common thing I see are about the show itself. I saw people that want to rip Twilight's wings because she should not be an alicorn despite her achievements. I saw people want to smack Starlight to a rock wall for turning into a good mare. I saw people say the Friendship school is the worst thing ever to have happened as if teaching friendship to everyone else is a terrible thing. I saw... people say MLP just deserved to die like that instead of going through the so called road to ruination. These are bronies who said this, mind you, not someone from outside the fandom.

One of my friends once said about the MLP show: "It's a kid's show. Plot holes and inconsistencies and what not. It's cool to stay logical, but it's even wiser to know when you're not supposed to deploy it. Just like emotion, reason needs control too."

Like, I know MLP's target audience, and that's why I have zero expectations going on, going as far as thinking it's okay if characters pull of a Dora the Explorer kind of 'dumb', because most characters in a kid's show are like that. All I'm there for is to see the characters move and talk on the screen. To put it in a simpler case, I can watch bits of Pony Life just to see the mane six alive and animated again, I don't give a damn if Fluttershy suddenly got the ability to grow in size out of nowhere. It's her, the yellow, pink maned pegasus that I love, and that's all I need.

Now I would say that I enjoyed the show no matter what, and I did. (With an exception of most of the musical scenes, something I already don't like it's use in a movie and such.) I stay by my view that MLP was a great show that changed my life. Of course, not everyone follows my view, but that's what I believe in and I'm holding it with my dear life. It's fine to have differences though, one of my closest friends really doesn't like my favorite pony, and we're still close friends. I just don't get why when we talk about the show, only the negatives that are brought up and laser focused. Maybe that's how they want to see the show? I won't stop them.

Unfortunately, just seeing those kind of things actually triggers my depression, and several weeks ago I got hit by a particularly hard one that I was barely able to not cry myself to sleep. The show turned into a topic that, more often then not, brings me great sadness and even anger when someone else talks about it in a certain way. I wish I'm someone that can control my emotion well, but that's just not the case. I'm still human. There's more things that might cause me to do this, like the 'Derpibooru incident', but since I'm not from the States, I can't say much about it :applejackconfused:

At this point I'm considering limiting myself from interacting with the MLP fandom. As in, won't get into discussions (or even see them) in a group that I don't know any of the members and such. All the friends I've made are here to stay though, of course, along with those who actually read my fics~ It's something like I've gained a lot of territories, now I'm not expanding it any further and stay with the lands I've gained.

Anyway, if you make it this far without skipping everything, thank you so much for listening. Writing this genuinely felt like a small weight on my shoulders have been lifted. I'm sorry if my words annoy or even offend anyone, because that's simply not my intention. However you see this blog, I will hope that Princess Celestia and Princess Twi-- I mean, Twilight Sparkle bless your day to be a good one, from now on and forever~

first off: <3
second of all: What makes our fandom special is that we are toxic. Let me explain, our fandom has been trashed by news networks, bashed by peers, and yet we laugh. What makes bronies great is our ability to hear these insults and give no fucks. Ponies the Anthology was made sheerly to allow us to laugh at insults others have given us.

forth of all: no matter what you enjoy in this world there will always be jackasses. The trick is to laugh about it and enjoy shit because you want to.

I think those are 5 really good reasons to like ponies. Let me know what you think. <3

1) :pinkiehappy:
2) Well, that's kind of a different matter, no? I couldn't care less what the outside world think of us :derpytongue2: It's more like what's happening inside.

4) Yep, I acknowledge them, yet I'm still rather incapable of just 'laugh it off'. Why must it happen from within our beloved community though .3.

Easy. Mi amigo, most people online are cowards. They are sensitive little snowflakes that cannot comprehend anything outside of their little comfort zone. And if you disagree with their opinions, you've just committed an egregious crime against them.

How dare you have an argument or opinion that would oppress theirs, am I right? Most bronies would tell you that they're all about friendship. Yeah right. They're all about as hypocritical as you can get.

They make all of these vehement preaches about love, tolerance and friendship. But they rarely ever exercise their own virtues. If this is the best that we as a community can do, I'm not impressed.

Friendship is magic, my left asscheek.

I'm in a similar boat where I post stories here but don't consider myself a brony. Sorry to hear that your experiences online have been so crappy. Conversely, I haven't had any issues but I think that's just me. Try not to let a few a$$holes put a damper on your enjoyment of this fandom. There are good fans here.

I know, I will not deny that the fandom did bring me joy, and the friends I've made are living proof :rainbowkiss:

Just want to filter myself from running into yet another unpleasant experience~
