So I'm a part of the AppleDash Group on this website. And I've read every single story there.
No, really.
Every. Single. One.
And I, and others in the socializing thread we've set up there, have noticed something... we see a lot of the same stories. Or rather, the same subject, rehashed with only slightly different words here or there. Which makes for boring reading, and is probably partially responsible for people not liking the ship as much! So Bookplayer and I have decided to do something about it. Or, in her words, "we decided to try to get you guys to do something about it."
We're holding a contest, looking for original, creative AppleDash fics over 5,000 words. The contest runs until January 6th, that's six weeks from today. There are two categories, with their own prizes:
Getting together fics- Fics about AJ and Dash starting a relationship. These are the most common, and the most similar, so be careful with this one! The prize for this category is a commission from RatofDawn.
On-going relationship fics- Fics about AJ and Dash where they're already in a relationship. These are more rare, so there are fewer cliches. We'd really just like to see people writing some of these with an interesting plot. The prize for these will be a commission from Jackie.
And of course we'll list all of the fics we receive (that follow the rules) in a blog post when we name the winner. Publicity, and a chance to win awesome art! Who wouldn't want to enter?

What about one where Rainbow Dash crashes into Applejack's farm and breaks a wing? Or one where they fall in love after Running of the Leaves?
Oooh! I just had an original idea! What if Applejack's farm is in financial trouble and she asks Rainbow Dash to help out!
AppleDash story that is original? Sounds like fun; I am already writing a story on them that seems pretty original. The concept might not be, but I haven't read all AppleDash fictions yet, so I wouldn't know until said otherwise. I wouldn't might partaking into this contest because it sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

538922 Those are all unoriginal. I have seen plenty of stories where Rainbow crashes and breaks her wing. The same with them falling in love after the Running of the Leaves; this idea has been pretty much used for many AppleDash fictions that I have read. Lastly, that last idea is hard to accomplish because of two reasons. First, Applejack doesn't ask for help because of her stubborn independence, so you would have to make it so Rainbow helps without her permission; sadly, this idea was happy taken, which leads to my second reason. Second, the idea was happily taken by the one and only shortskirtsandexplosions and her well known AppleDash story Spelling It Out. The idea could still be used, but I would have to say that it is a tough subject. Whatever you do is whatever you do, and I can't do anything to stop you; my point was just to clarify your theory.
Now, I have a question about my fiction. My idea behind the story is that this is an AppleDash story, but it isn't because they never got to get to the relationship because of a certain tragedy that unfolds during the story. Is this viable to write for the contest?
