Firstly, I'm planning on opening a contest this Friday. There's a hint as to the theme below the fold:
Judge sign-ups are open as of now (just let me know in the comments,) but I understand if you want to wait for more concrete details. 
Secondly, and apropos of nothing, here's a little something I like to call "What if Paper Mario: The Origami King had chapter titles?" No spoilers (or at least vague enough spoilers that they should only make sense in hindsight, like any good prophecy.)
Prologue: E-Rated Body Horror

Chapter 3: Wherein Origami King Overtakes Odyssey as Most Gratuitously Japanese Mario Title
Interlude: 20,000 Reams Under the Sea
Chapter 4: Indiana Toad and the Temple of Shrooms
Chapter 5: Paper Mario: The Wind Waker
Chapter 6: Heaven & Hell. Let’s Soak!
Chapter 7: Time is Torn and Space is Foldable
Suffice to say, Origami King is an incredibly fun puzzle-platformer-adventure... thing. It's not 64 or Thousand-Year Door (for a newer game using that system, I strongly recommend Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling, which is also fantastic,) but it does stand on its own merits quite well. Hilarious writing, novel gameplay, and something to actually do with the thousands of coins the game throws at you. It's not perfect—the tutorial stretches out way too long—but I greatly enjoyed it.

I can't figure out if the theme is "Derpy", "Humans in Equestria", "Ponies meeting their human counterparts", or some combination of the three.

I'm currently playing Origami King and am loving it. Don't wanna give spoilers, but the boss battle gameplay is certainly interesting...
The Origami King was fun.
I went into that part dimly aware of the memes, but I wasn't expecting more than general parallels re:marine exploration and map-filling. I was very surprised by how open the chapter was about just straight up being The Wind Waker but with Mario.
Frankly, what I liked best about this episode besides the characters was that, if Paper Mario is going to be literal now about the setting being actually made of paper and everyone being aware of it, it might as well lean into it and milk the implications. This game certainly did that!
That game made me feels things against my will.
