Firefly update + an alteration to the latest chapter · 2:15pm Aug 28th, 2020
Though I made some additions and edits, and will probably make a few more during this weekend's editing passes, the chapter belongs to Denim_Blue, so he gets to write the author's note and reply to comments on it. I'm very lucky to have a pair of prereaders who have contributed to the story not just with edits and comments, but by offering up their species headcanon for the story's use--AJ_Aficionado for the thestrals, and Denim_Blue for the Changelings. It's time for the latter to take center stage, though the former is certainly coming, as the next chapter I write will regard the meeting between Typhoon and the Nightborne, and be told from the perspective of the latter.
The last chapter was received generally well, and I'd like to welcome new readers to the story--five new likes in the past month! But that said, folks... there's a little something in the last chapter I'm surprised nobody spotted or commented on. Perhaps I left it a little too quick or understated, so I've altered the paragraph to make it a bit more obvious:
But more on that later—much more, methinks. For now, I shall pass the quill back to my beloved friend and Captain. Before she departed to escort her offspring on the first leg of the journey, with the group departing from the General Squall Line Memorial Airship Field outside of Aerial Corps HQ, Captain Firefly left a new section of her own behind.
You know, a complaint I've heard from reviewers about this story series is that there's no surprises in it. I strongly disagree that's the case, as there's plenty of ways I could do it. This is hinting at something to come, and for now, I will say no more.
Anyway, after dropping that little bomb: the Changeling chapter launches for the story's third anniversary on Tuesday, September 1st, and I'll post a teaser of it later in the weekend. Until then, take care, and thanks for the likes and comments!
My headcanon for thestrals is they are the most beautiful and fascinating species that lives in Equus/Tellus.

I'd be hard pressed to disagree with you given your very intricate and well-thought bat-pony canon!
