MLP FIM season 3 episode 4 review · 8:04pm Nov 24th, 2012
OK finally resaw the episode and now, I can review it. Some what anyways.
First off I ignored all the images of Babs seed because when I saw the episode wanted her to be a surprise, and the wait was well worth it. Babs seed is FREAKING CUTE! :lunas1love Also loved her voice. ;)
That aside the episode in all was...well, still unsure at the moment. The CMC meets Applebloom's cuz who after meeting Diamond Tiara and Silverspoon, starts bullying them. She went so far to kick them out of their clubhouse, I mean dear goodness their reactions...and the way Sweetie Belle cried... :ohdear: Heartbreaking...Then the CMC decided to get payback by making a float and making it so on a set timer, crashes. Then they learned Babs seed was only bullying them because she herself, was bullied back home. So she didn't want to be bullied so she became one.
...........This is one thing I disliked, why did Babs seed bullied them because she was bullied? Ya know what could've added to this episode? A scene where Babs is starting to feel guilty and wonders if she should keep on being what she hated, the whole bullying to avoid being bullied is just, eh to me. I wanna say this episode was rushed in some way but...either way it went down a weird road. Also the CMC could've hurted some pony DEAR CELESTIA how come they didn't get scolded? That's another thing the moral, what was it exactly? We didn't get a letter, I think this episode could've used a letter. XD But really what was the moral? Don't be a bully? I think it's if your being bullied or have any type of problems, then don't be scared to tell someone?
Moral aside, this episode altho not the best CMC episode, I whether liked it. The new song was cool, no AWESOME! :P The animation for it was cool as well, golden Sweetie Belle was cute. Scootaloo thinking she got a wrench Cutie mark but turned out it was just dirt, well Applebloom did the same thing when she "helped" Pinkie make cupcakes. Also when they were waiting for Babs to arrive I think we got two foreshadowings.
First being, Scootaloo was either flying or she was hovering in midair then lowering herself. Second when Sweetie Belle said she felt like she was going to burst her horn did a little sparkle. I'm...gonna go on a whim here and say when the coms said "she'll discover her true destiny" even tho they showed Twilight, I wanna say they meant Sweetie Belle. I mean coms have a way to build up to something then when that moment comes, we learned the coms lied and mislead us mostly to make the thing their building up to even better.
So yeah I'm going with for now anyway, the one that'll discover her true destiny is Sweetie Belle and that Com was just to mislead us, they can do that. Anyways all in all I liked this episode, but one last thing...as much as I loved a new CMC episode I think, it would've been better if the focus was on Babs seed and it followed her mostly. I hope we see her again and get some character from her, more then just "she's bullying the CMC to avoid being bullied herself", that is just a stupid plotpoint/twist to me. I think it would've been better if Babs seed was given more screen time, she basically suffered what Sombra did but a little different, we don't know anything about her besides she came to Ponyville to escape her bullying, then went and became a bully until she and the CMC made up and started over.
She needed more screen time, and hopefully she will later in the series/season. But still, I :lunas1love Babs seed. XD I don't know but maybe it has something to do because besides the becoming a bully part, I could relate to her. And she's too adorable. ^^; I forgot to say the scene where they all made up was nice too, the CMC confessing they caused the float to crash and Babs seed apologizing. It was a nice scene, also Sweetie Belle's line "AGH why must life be so ironic!?" made me laugh, that is so the understatement of, well the world. XD Life is ironic at times, also I got very nervous at some parts and I just knew the CMC's plan would backfire. XD
Again all in all I enjoyed this episode, could've been better with the moral/Babs seed reasoning to being a bully, but overall I liked it and will rewatch it any time. I'll give this episode a...3.5 out of 5 Babs seeds, it was great and fun to watch, but could've been better in some parts. Mainly Babs seed herself and how quickly the moral went, it was like they added Babs seed's reasoning as to why she was bullying the CMC at the last minute.
Anyways I still enjoyed this episode and hope to see Babs seed again in the future.
EDIT:Also the scene where Babs seed joined the CMC was one of their best scenes. XD
