Gecko looks at stories he likes once more #1 · 2:14pm Nov 24th, 2012
I don't know what to call this, so the title is temporary at the most...
Anyway, I am writing this right after finishing the latest chapter of FO:E PH (Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons, for those who don't know). Now, I know people might get scared of the length, I can understand that. It is a long story, but Celestia is it worth it! Blackjack is a character hard to accomplish, at least in my mind, she has a lot going on and she's crazy. This chapter was the first time in a while that I haven't actually just skimmed a story, I seem to have a bad habit with suck things... Anyway, when I was reading the chapter, I was reminded of the rest of the story in a heartbeat, that is something that's hard to accomplish, since it means I probably reallyliked the rest of the story, and that's true, I love that story to deat at the moment.
It has it's flaws, as does anything, just look at my story, it's kind of horrible in many ways, don't get me wrong, I'm trying my best, but when medicrity is the highest I achive, it's hard to call my story good, least of all "Flawless", I don't really think any story in the history of man is flawless, that's just a law of nature, as it were. Project Horizons, in this case, does a very good job at investing the readers in the characters, specifically Blackjack, considering she's the main character and such. And yes, I know there are some things people just can't stand about the story in certain cases, those are all valid arguments, most of the time. The length of the story, for example, some might get really scared and think that Somber (The author) is overdoing it when it comes to the length. But that's not the way it is, I would go as far to say that the pacing of the story is perfect, ok, maybe not perfect, nothing is perfect, but it's good, really, really good.
It's coming closer to the 1 milion mark with every chapter, it might even have passed it by now, I can't say. The story is surprisingly good at it's pacing, I'm serious here, it's long as all hay, but that's just 'cause it needs to be, it truly is. For, you see, is the story had been shorter in terms of text per chapter, it wouldn't be the same experience and I probably wouldn't like it as much as I do. It's not even near the finish mark yet, at least, that's what Somber leads us to believe.
(Adding Blackjack with a contrabass, just because)
This picture also reminds me, the characters themselves have so many different perks of their personalities it's creepy, don't get me wrong, Somber's doing a perfect job at it, at least in my opinion. Every characters feels real, they react in ways we expect, most of the time, and that's good, that just means we understand the character, there might be times when the character does something unexpeted, but that just makes it so more believable.
This has been my re-look at Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons, I might do more, if I feel like it, and if you wnat me to do it, and if you haven't guessed it yet, I recommend that you read it, right here.
