    Story update and other stuff

Believe it or not I've actually started a new job at long last. I'd only planned on staying with my last employer six months, but ended up being stuck there for nearly five years. During my time there I had to put up with some of the worst bigotry I've ever encountered, despite the company claiming to be 'inclusive, supportive of diversity, etc'. Spoiler alert : They weren't!

    Story Update

Now on page 280 of Bon Bon's story. Looking good so far, but quite a technical challenge as she's been involved in other parts of the Fairlight story arc and I need to be careful tying it all together. I'm also aware that I will need to incorporate Lyra's story into it too.

    Continuing on

Despite one of the readers claiming that they had felt like vomiting after reading my last story, I have pressed on with my scribblings. Apparently eliciting a physical and -or- an emotional response from a story is considered a good thing. Or so I'm told.

Progress and a hint of corona. · 9:04am Aug 14th, 2020

Believe it or not the story has progressed. I'm now on page 150 with no particular end in sight just yet. It's not intended as a long story as I've mentioned previously, however it does still tie in with the Fairlight world as much as you could read it as a standalone if you fancied. I'm thinking of asking one of my regulars if they'd like to read it in draft form and give an opinion before I began editing it in earnest. I'll keep you updated on that one.

Meanwhile I've apparently had coronavirus. And yes, I did say 'apparently'. I'd felt like crap for couple of weeks: constant headaches, fluctuating temperature, and a sore throat that I just couldn't shift. I carried on working as I didn't have a cough and just thought I'd picked up a chill, which is nothing unusual in my line of work, although the sore throat was driving me up the wall. Finally spoke to the quacks on the insistence of family who told me (Over the bloody phone of course) that I had 'classic' coronavirus symptoms and gave me a huge dose of antibiotics after sending them a photo of the back of my throat. I have to say that I was surprised that a 'sore throat and no cough' are 'classic symptoms' as nowhere have I heard any of that at all! Anyway I feel fine now and thank god I haven't killed of my family in the meantime. On a side note, I was told it was pointless testing me as I was 'likely coming out of the back of it', which I'm not sure is comforting or just downright worrying. As for all the conspiracy people out there, my brother has been working in the hospitals on the corona patient wards and the stories he's told me are nightmare inducing. In all honesty It looks to be luck of the draw whether it hits you hard or not, and I don't think all this mask wearing business is doing all that much to help. Call me cynical, but I think we're all going to get it sooner or later here in the UK. People are just ignoring lock downs left right and centre, so what's the point? It is, as always, completely half arsed.

What's really hit home is that my family couldn't visit our American relatives in Maine because the UK is a hotbed of diseased people (Apparently!!!). So, that's us stuck here until next year. At least I got more of the story done.

All the best,

Bluespectre

Why tf are they giving you antibiotics for a viral infection. That does nothing.

And yes, all of this is just quite silly.

Good to hear you're still alive and kicking.
