Weekly Updates: Twilight's Bizarre Adventure - Chapter 5 · 7:07am Aug 10th, 2020

Yeah, I ran out of synonyms to avoid the obvious name. Also, this is where the story should be taking a more consistent pace. Or better yet stop looking like loose scenes and actually drive somewhere. To where? I don't know, as I'm avoiding to plan too far ahead, but at least it's not another "practice chapter". Hell, if I can get through a first act, I may as well recompile everything, re-edit it and release it as a story proper. Hopefully.

Attention duelists! My hair is recapping the story:

Masked ponies in the house. Everyone panic.

The omnipresent masked ponies found their way into Starhouse, Twilight's family home and meant to be a safe place from such a threat. They already managed to deal with Trixie, shooting her in the neck and neutralizing the mighty vampire. Now Twilight is held at gunpoint.

Twilight's Bizarre Adventure: Midnight Light

The fire gun was not a common weapon within the Solar Empire. Alchemists and chemists had developed gunpowder generations ago, each by their own methods and for their own uses. The concept explosive and ballistic weapons eventually followed, representing a utility that boosted their development. Each new version followed a different need.

Their use against the dangerous magical beasts that roamed free across the land made models such as the blunderbuss a common equipment for hunters and town sheriffs. On the other hand, it became a leveling element in the fight between a unicorn and another non-magical pony, so the guard adopted the musket in more conflictive areas.

Yet, thanks to the inner peace of the empire, fire guns weren’t needed beyond those specific scenarios. A pony living a quiet life in a city such as the Solar Capital of Canterlot wouldn’t see as much as a hoof pistol once in their lifetimes.

So far through the night, Twilight has seen varying types of new fire guns. She’s also been fired at with one of these new weapons, twice. And now, she had a gun pointed at her.

Twilight’s night had turned to the bizarre.

“Alright,” the masked pony trotted in front of Twilight to make the gun more visible for her. “Just don’t move.”

Twilight remained still, but not because of the threat. There was a place within Twilight’s mind. A place she went when the world didn’t made sense. A white void where time and space didn’t exist to Twilight. But more importantly, a place where she could just think.

Not moving anything but her eyes, she scanned the room; The three ponies had the same helmet/mask from the ones at the nightclub and the ones following them. That made it hard to tell if either of them could be a unicorn. Same with their full bodysuits, meaning there was the same possibility any of all of them could be pegasi. Or they could all be earth ponies.

The closest one to Twilight was holding a gun to her right templ. By their build, they were in good shape. The gun itself was the same Trixie recovered; a volition-repeating pistol. That meant it could fire twice in short notice, doubling its danger if the owner had the reflex to make good use of it.

The second closest to her, at her left, had a hoof over Pinkamena’s mouth to prevent her from making any sound, while holding a knife to her neck with the other. They looked shorter than the one holding the gun, but also more muscular. Twilight deduced that was why they used a knife. They could be a cocky pony.

The third pony was visually more slender, making Twilight consider is they could be a mare. They were standing next to Trixie’s body, in front of the open window. They also had a repeating pistol, but with one shot less. When she looked down at the still smoking gun, Twilight knew what to do.

First, she lightened up her horn, which prompted all the masks to turn in her direction, and the closest one firing their gun at her. Twilight didn’t know is her telekinesis could stop a bullet from the gun, nor if her shield could deflect a bullet. She didn’t know the contraption enough to hold its mechanism from firing with her magic and she couldn’t see well how he was standing due to the dark. So instead, she pushed the gun’s barrel to a direction and she jumped at the opposite.

Twilight held harder with her magic, plucking the gun away with ease now the danger of it firing was dealt with. At the same time, she jumped forward, hitting the masked pony in the side and using her weight to push them down, using her magic freely to hold their hooves,

As this happened, the pony with the knife let Pinkamena go so they could attack Twilight. However, they felt a gust of wind before a wave of pain overran any other sensation. As consciousness fade away, they saw through the cracks of their helmet an azure hoof holding them against the wall with enough force to break part of it with their body.

“You!” She growled in a voice that no mortal should possess. “You don’t threaten Lady Sparkle in front of me.” The third pony who was standing over her moments ago was nowhere to be found in the room. To know his fate, one would need to bend over the window through which Trixie threw them once Twilight provided enough distraction to avoid being shot again.

“What happened here?!” Shining Armor turned the light on. Seeing his sister holding a masked pony down, while Trixie held and unconscious one against the cracked wall, and Pinkamena was still on the bed, hiding behind the sheets from the violence that unfolded in front of her. “Twilight, are you alright?”

“Oh, peachy,” Twilight said between gritted teeth. “Just the masked ponies,” she struggled to hold down the remaining one. “They came here.” Twilight finally found the knife she deduced they must have like their companion. Once she found it, she threw it away and released the masked pony, only to use a sleep spell and let them fall to their knees and finally on their side.

“Now you believe me?” Twilight got up and dusted herself off while holding the knife visibly in front of Shining Armor.

“H-How?” Shining asked, while taking the knife in his own magic.

“Trixie will answer that, Captain Armor.” Trixie let the unconscious pony fall from her grip unceremoniously. “They came through the window.” Shining followed her at the window, noticing a rope hanging from the upside. “Though I wonder how did they reach the rooftop without being noticed first.” Trixie joined him in looking up at the ropes.

“At least two of them must have been a pegasus,” Twilight concluded. “Their suits hide if they could have wings,” She inspected one of the unconscious ones, poking their back with a hoof. “Here,” she called for the other ponies attention. “A cloth flap.” She pulled at it with magic, revealing its wearer’s fur. “This one isn’t a pegasus, though.”

“And the one Trixie defenestrated can’t be either, or they would have flew instead of hitting the floor.” She did the same as Twilight with the remaining one, but no wings either. “Well, this is a mystery.”

“And that doesn’t answer my question,” Shining Armor lifted his voice. “How did they know you were here?” He trotted towards Twilight, putting a hoof on her shoulder. “You said Miss Lulamoon held the ponies following you back, so how--”

“Because they came with us,” the Guardsmare that came to the house entered the room. “Captain Armor, these ponies are part of the Imperial Guard." Her horn glowed with emerald sparks, aimed at Shining Armor, while ther two guards also entered, aiming their muskets at Twilight and Trixie. "And your sister is interfering with official matters for the Empire.”

Special thanks to Vexing Vixen, once again holding me at threat point to finish these things. Also to Nightwalker, who still supports me after all these years. And to all the friends who had the patience to put up with my ramblings in varying time periods. And to you, my readers. you're literally the reason this keeps going.
