Birds of a Feather: deleted scene · 8:20am Aug 9th, 2020
I removed the following scene because it was too serious for the tone I was going for, bogged down the pacing, and felt like I was writing an r/EntitledParents post. It also inspired me to write How to Safely Interact with Hippogriffs.
“Ow!” Gallus yelped.
Silverstream stopped mid-canter and turned around to see a human child yanking Gallus’ tail like the rope in a tug-of-war. His talons scratched the concrete as he struggled against the child’s grip; as soon as he broke free, he lay down and hid his quivering tail. The child lunged forwards and started rubbing Gallus’ fur, back and forth…
Oh no. Silverstream had learned the hard way that Gallus hated his fur being rubbed backwards in an incident involving Smolder and a lightning cloud at the Castle of the Two Sisters. Gallus growled, the claws on his paws involuntarily unsheathed. He raised a talon, but quickly lowered it, and Silverstream breathed a sigh of relief.
“Mommy! MOMMY!” the kid cried out. “T-the gwiffin is twying to hurt me!” In a matter of seconds, the mother rushed towards him. Good! Hopefully, she would be able to talk some sense into—
The mother clutched her son and thoroughly inspected his arms for non-existent injuries as if they were about to fall off. “Remember when our neighbours’ dog bit you? Dangerous animals like that deserve to be put down.”
Gallus stood up. “But I didn’t—”
“BACK OFF!” the mother shouted, as if she were shooing away a stray cat. Gallus’ ears drooped, and he stepped backwards.
“That’s ENOUGH!” shouted Silverstream, stepping between Gallus and the humans with her wings spread out as wide as possible. Several bystanders stopped and stared; some of them even took pictures. She took a deep breath. “Sorry about that. Hippogriff instinct.” She gently stepped towards the mother.
I think this will be the last My Little Pony fanfic I post for a while. Don’t worry, I’m not quitting Fimfiction, I just want to avoid burnout. In particular, I want to be the first person to post a Pokémon, Legend of Zelda, or Wings of Fire fanfic on Offprint. I’d appreciate inspiration and/or brainstorming partners.

Oh, goodness. Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Hyrule Warriors, bits of Wind Waker, more bits of Breath of the Wild. Don't quiz me on the last two, though.

Most of the Zelda fanfics I’ve tried to write recently were Spirit Tracks AUs that didn’t go anywhere, but my most fleshed-out AU idea is a bizarro universe version of The Wind Waker. We can continue this conversation in a PM, if you want; it involves lore from A Link Between Worlds.
