This is one thing that constantly irritates me about Immortal Twilight stories, they always have Twilight become super miserable and depressed, or delve into dark magic to revive her friends. I get it's sad to lose friends, but what erks me is that this isn't a thing exclusive to immortal beings, last October my Grandfather died of cancer, my dog died about a month ago, my childhood doctor died last weak, and my great grandmother is in the hospital for covid-19 and is not going to make it she is really old after all. But I haven't become super depressed and had a desire to delve into the dark arts to bring them back.
The thing that I feel is being forgotten in these stories is probably the most fundamental bond in friendship. True relationships do not end with a life they live on in the hearts and minds of those who remembered them. I won't forget the people I lost because they are gone, they still exist inside me. So that's my thoughts on this troupe, I may write my own story on Immortal Twilight outliving her friends, but not becoming an emotional wreck because of it. I'll do this some do when I don't have other stories that need to be written.
Yeah plus people forget that Celestia and Luna has friends and family too that are no longer around and they didn’t go insane out of sadness (jealousy maybe but not sadness).

I'm totally and 100% with you on this. There is nothing wrong with Twilight mourning her friends, and being sad when they die, but I always saw that, in time, she would make new friends, and be her normal, happy self, once more.
The rest of the Mane 7 would always have a special place in her heart. But that doesn't mean she can't move on, and live.
Of course, far too many authors are too dumb it seems to see that, and have her become totally OOC, and in the worst cases, have Twilight take her anger and bitterness out on Celestia, or anyone who tries to help.

Yeah exactly what I'm thinking, or you'll have authors have Twilight slowly start to lose her memory of them, but I think it's even dumber to have an ageless and deathless body, but not to have an eternal mind.

don't forget she would become a part of there lives there familes so she would never be alone she would always be there for them to help guide them heck i wonder if theres any fics out there with a immortal (not sun or moon butts lol) that activly takes a role in there family's decendents to help guide abd protect them
