This is technically a She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018 series) fanfic. But it's an AU taking place in a modern world. The author calls it "magical realism," and I have no idea what the fuck that is. All I actually know is this is neat, and cute, and kinda trippy, and I love it a little bit. It's ten chapters in and it's been updating almost every day, and sometimes twice in a day, so it's trucking along pretty briskly.
You should read it.

Magic realism is basically when you have fantastic things happen in an otherwise believable world. The standard bearer Is generally considered to be “100 years of solitude“ by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Looking back, the fact that I loved reading it so much in high school was kind of a precursor to me getting into Pony stuff.

Doesn’t have to be urban. Could be industrial or rural or wherever. But urban fantasy could certainly be seen as a subset of magic realism.
