Today was the last straw for me, so I've taken measures to fix the problem · 9:24am Jul 10th, 2020
You know what I'm sick of more than anything in my life? Having to wear glasses. Really, they are a burden.
Constantly cleaning the lenses, having to clean them again seconds after you had literally just cleaned them off and they mysteriously get dirty again, taking them off before bed and losing them despite putting them in the same place you always put them in, taking them off and being so blind you can't see ten feet in front of you...the list drags on. They suck. I'm saying that after being stuck with them for all of my life since around the age of five.
Not only do I find them annoying, I'm sat typing this with a pair of broken glasses. The nose pads snapped clean off and I can't get the broken piece out of the holder to put in the fresh ones I just ordered and have arrived today. It's like have a kitten claw at my nose on either side each time I move. Not only that, but as I was trying to jimmy the broken pieces out, my screwdriver slipped and scratched one of the lenses! All I said was, ''Are you bloody kidding me?"
Thankfully, and after having enough of this perfect example of annoyance, I've booked an appointment to get them sorted out and to get a well-overdue eye test. If you're like me, you know the struggles of being a glasses wearer. I, for one, hate how I look with them. I don't feel right, nor do I want to see my own reflection wearing them. I'll be making a switch with some hope to contact lenses to see how that works out. Anything to get rid of these annoying things that have been stuck on my face for all my life.
I may be a nerd on the inside, but I'd rather not be one on the outside. I feel enough like a freak, so I don't need glasses to emphasise my freakiness. Here, have a Twist.
They've gotten in the way of some parts of my personal life, of which I'll keep the details hidden, but trust me when I tell you it broke my confidence. That being said, this has gone on long enough and it's time for it to stop. The sooner I fix this, the sooner I can work on building myself back up and feel normal in front of other people again. (Not that I ever did, but who's bothered about that? )
I'm the complete opposite. I love my glasses. They've become a defining part of me that I don't recognize myself without them. (Of course, being barely able to see past a foot may play a part in it, LOL!)
Sure, there are some issues as you mentioned, but that kinda comes with the territory.

You know what's awkward about this? Me and my brother wear the exact same pair. Not only that, every time I wear them, I look like I work in ICT. I'm no tech-head.
I personally look and feel better without them. But, as you say, if you like wearing them and feel as if they define you better, ''as a part of my branding'', as Stevie T describes his own glasses, then good on you. It still doesn't get rid of those pesky issues, but that's all a part of it.
I’ve tried to start wearing contacts but I just cannot work with them. So I’m stuck with my glasses.

Don't tell me, it's the putting them in and taking them out part, right? Probably the most common reason people choose glasses over them.
I too have had glasses for most of my life, as well as being horribly nearsighted & having absolutly zero depth perception. Then I found out I had cataracts last year in both eyes, so I had to have that taken care of, but I'm glad that I did, because my vision improved greatly once I had recovered from the second cataract surgery. It was like being literally born blind & being that way for most of my life & then suddenly being able to see. I still have to wear glasses, but it's not as bad as it was, even if they are old man glasses (Bifocals)
Hey You punk kids! Get the hell off my lawn!
