Ever since I was told my CS Stratocaster was a fake, I've had my eyes set on this beauty! I want one of these so badly, so I'd thought I'd share the beauty and give you a little story to go with it! · 1:34pm Jul 8th, 2020
There is one thing that I've had my eyes on for a while now. Those who know me well enough know that I'm obsessed with guitars. I enjoy Stratocasters and Mustangs the most. When I discovered what the Fender Custom Shop was, I went nuts over the idea. Unfortunately for inexperienced me, I was like a child on Christmas when I find a guitar on eBay that had a Custom Shop decal on its headstock. That was the first mistake.
I haven't ever played an authentic Fender Stratocaster before, so I knew nothing about this one I ended up buying and still own to this day. I already made a blog about this story and what happened, but the lowdown is that I had it looked at and was told it was entirely forged. Nothing was authentically crafted or built by Fender - it was made by some guy from mix-and-match parts, meaning all the decals were added and for show. My guess is it was to lure some sucker into buying it for a quick and easy profit. They obviously succeeded.
Getting to the point, after I found out my guitar was a fake in every possible form, I have had my eyes set on an authentic Fender Stratocaster for a while now, but it's one of the better looking ones that will drive any fan crazy over its beauty! I've been after what is called a relic! (For you novices out there, 'relicing' is a process in which a guitar undergoes treatments to look like it has years of wear, tear and heavy usage put into it. It can make a 2020 model instrument look like a 1940's instrument.)
This is what a relic looks like:
For the best colour, I'd personally choose surf green. Surf green is such a cool and vibrant colour. Some paint jobs, like sonic blue (from the 90's period) are very deep and vibrant when it's fresh from the factory, but age has such a wonderful effect on it the older it gets, where it slowly fades from a blue-ish shade to a very vibrant, neon green colour, like a heavenly turquoise. There's nothing better! For those who want to see what that looks like, take a look at this picture!
This is only a body, but the guitar I originally intended to show you is no longer available and has probably already been sold off. But you get the idea! The trouble is that I'd have to sell some of my babies to get one, as they can get pricey. The Custom Shop always comes with a big price tag, so that's the only downer of this. Nothing would be cooler than to have one of these beasts in my collection.
Why I bring this up is because this is the dream guitar I most want! I want to one day own a surf green Fender Stratocaster as a heavy relic! I see them all the time in YouTube videos with MartyMusic, and his is so damn sexy it's impossible to take my eyes off it! Give it a listen and tell me that it doesn't have your attention -
Anywho, before this turns into a fangasm of a blog post, I'd better leave this off here. I could go on all day (and I just might). To you guitar lovers out there, keep on rockin'!
