Belated 10th anniversary of Toy Story 3 · 12:37pm Jun 22nd, 2020
I can't believe I completely forgot about this. Anyway, here goes. 4 days ago marks 10 years old of the most emotional and heart-wrenching sequel Pixar has ever made.
Released on June 18, 2010, Toy Story 3 is where Andy prepares to go to college as he's outgrown from playing with his old toys. They were supposed to be kept in the attic, but they were sent to daycare thanks to his mom who thought they were trash.
There were a lot of new characters in the sequel and it made me excited to watch it after waiting for 11 years. The storyline made the audience thoroughly engaged and it had a perfect amalgam of unforgettable and serious moments.
The year this sequel was released is the same year I entered college. Andy moving out of the house and giving away his toys to Bonnie and playing with them before going to college was a huge tug in my heartstrings. I can relate very much to Andy because it marked both the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one.
Also, one of the darkest scenes in all Pixar films was Woody and the gang being left in the incinerator by Lotso to die. Of course, they were saved by the aliens, but still, having a dark moment like that made it a top-notch and impactful sequel. It still remains as such and I don't think TS4 could ever reach that high.
To infinity and beyond!
Yaaaay! :)
