    *eye roll*

me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

    Final chapter up

Been a hell of a ride, honestly. I just apologize for dragging it on for so long.

Well, today was a wash... · 12:00am Jun 20th, 2020

Can I be free to grumble a bit? Okay, so just published my 75th story a few short hours ago. You'd think there would be more celebrating and a lot less moping from me, right? ...once again, it seems I've failed to play the FIMfic game properly and didn't even net 20 likes. Which for me, is an average I try to hit.

sigh

It's less about what the story contains, -I know, I know, you'd think sex would sell so to speak- and more about the fact that it's kinda insulting for my 75th piece to slip under the radar. ...so, how's your day been?

Dude! That's tough! :(

Sorry to hear that...

My day's had its ups and downs. Ups, I got some nice sodas from the new general store that's opened just up the street from my house. Downs... I got into a fight with one of my friends on DeviantArt because they're one of the "Brie Larson is the worst and Captain Marvel promotes anti-male violence" types. :ajbemused:

Nice to hear general stores and mom and pop shops still exist.

On the other hand, sounds like your friend is less a friend and more someone who needs to pull his head out of his ass. Honestly, for all those claims that Brie is a toxic man-hater -at worst, I'd say her acting's kind dull at times- and that goes for her character, I point to this panel from AllStar Batman.

This fits the description more I think. ...like, really Frank? Real nice.

5288762
Agreed. I was very happy about the place opening and I really hope it manages to *stay* open too. Blasted pandemic.

Unfortunately, this one's a she, not a he. Which, while it doesn't exactly complicate the matter, does make it a lot more annoying to me. (Especially 'cause the crux of the whole argument was that damned deleted/alternate scene with the creep on the motorcycle. :facehoof: What part of "deleted scene" doesn't penetrate?)
Good reference there. I mean, really, what the hell?

This actually brings up a great point, about Carol not being completely sympathetic throughout the first half of the film. It's because she's not entirely supposed to be, given she's technically a villain until she realizes how much of a bastard Yon-Rogg actually is. (Still miffed on how Jude Law got wasted) But yeah, that's doubly annoying.

But yeah, Frank used to be a good author -see Daredevil: Born Again- and it was really a damn shame he turned into an objectifying Islamophobic nut.

5288769
Yes. That was actually a point I had raised in my argument - that Carol is the protagonist of the story, but she doesn't become a hero until her brainwashing is undone. It drives me nuts that so few people understand (or maybe just *refuse* to understand) that distinction.

Indeed. I have Born Again and it's superb. And in all honesty? I actually feel sorry for the guy. I think he's probably miserable and wasted. (Though, I dunno, he might be kinda climbing back out of that whole somewhat. I read a few snippets of his most recent Superman comic and they've got some legit thoughtful or clever stuff in them.)

Amen, they're all so caught up in their hatred that... well, I feel sorry for Brie more than them, given she has to deal with those assholes. She's probably a very nice woman, given you see news like this. https://montrealgazette.com/entertainment/celebrity/brie-larson-surprises-fans-at-captain-marvel-screenings/wcm/bb647429-39c1-4b08-87ec-0d3aa2cee926/

I... don't, not after Holy Terror. Mind you, I've been hearing good things from Dark Knight Returns Part 3, though why we need a part 3 is beyond me.

5288771
Aww, that is nice.

That's your prerogative. I know about Holy Terror (I *tried* to watch Linkara's video on it but couldn't even finish the first part), but still, I'd rather feel for him rather than condemn him or wish him ill. There's already enough anger and hatred out there in the world. I'd rather not add to it if I can avoid it.

5288771

I've seen all of the Holy Terror... it only gets worse.

The racism in that is worse, but it gets even worse with the story-telling, as in, there is almost none of it until near the end, cause most of it is just random as hell events happening with Frank hammering it in that he hates Islam.

And Linkara's speech on a particular section... he sums it all up. He summed up everything wrong with it, right there in a perfect speech. Not as Linkara, but as Lewis.

5288802
Yes, I know. I may not have watched the videos in full, but I'd read about it. And yes, Lewis' speech at the conclusion is very well delivered too.

5288804
It's okay. No worries.

And besides, I feel it bears repeating. Regardless of how I choose to feel about the man himself, Holy Terror *is* an awful book and deserves to be called out as such.

Sorry it took so long to get to reading your newest story but work has been getting more and more busy. Plus I don’t think I should be reading mature rated stories when I am on the clock. Plus I am still peeved that I have my fourth Sunday in a row lost to a shift a work, at least it is overtime.

Probably a wise decision, yeah.

I honestly write for myself, so if people ignore the stories I make I don't care. I find delight in writing more than in getting views and likes, I think that's what every writer should do.

As for my day, (thanks by the way) it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, just edited a chapter of a story and uploaded it. Took more time than expected to do so I must add.

Hope your story reaches more likes and views. ^^

5288894
I try to write for myself as well, it's just the dilemma of the author. You want to know people care about your work, you know?

5289091
I've been there, but my point still stands. I write because I like to write. If I post stories here is to see if anyone can help me to improve and perhaps to make someone enjoy my work, but I already enjoy writing itself.

Im guessing that since you have a ton of followers you would expect them to read your work, now I get it.

The human brain is strange, and allow me to be blunt, people may follow you but they only like one of your stories, or perhaps because you followed them first, maybe they don't really read you as a writer. Im only hypothesizing here, since the human is very unpredictable sometimes.

All I can say is that you should be proud of your work, you have been writing for some time already and I can say you have improved to the point of being very good at this. Despite of the views or likes when you look at your work you should say: "I did a good god damn job."

5289136
...well, can't exactly argue with that.

I know how you feel.

You put a lot of hard work into a story, and not a lot of people read It.

I have had to deal with this lots of times. But I just keep pushing through, and write.
