My Journey Through Them's Fightin Herds · 9:48am Jun 15th, 2020

Hello to anyone who bothered to read this blog!

The Durgen is doing okay, and currently have a new... 'task', which is, simply getting good. Getting good in Them's Fightin Herds.

I was a veteran of Fighting is Magic, so I was there when the game got Ceased and Desisted. Like a lot of people, I was very sad and upset on the news at that time. Them's Fightin Herds did pop out, but for the longest time, I actually avoided it because it'll just remind me of Fighting is Magic that got tragically shot down mere days before it's official release. Other then that, like some people, I actually feel the fact that TFH is 'not ponies' made me lose interest as well. Not to mention that the slow development of the game. So, for quite a long time after it's announcement, I did not poke around TFH again.

Then, MLP aired it's final episode, and then April 2020 came. TFH has been officially released, grabbing my attention once again. Holy hell, I wished I looked into the game from the beginning. What really approve the game for me is right at the beginning, the tutorial. I have never seen a more in depth tutorial in a fighting game that's not boring (You're the best, Oleander~ You too, Fred~) yet it teaches EVERY. SINGLE. THING. you need to know in a fighting game, to the point of hitboxes and frame data. I feel like I understand more about fighting games in that tutorial then in 20 years of my life.

The characters are, of course, not our favorite mane six, but I'm kinda surprised to see some of their traits on the TFH cast outside their movesets. It'll be too complex for me to put here, so you can go check it out yourself, I recommend it~ Then the music... Oh man, RC88 and Whitetail who worked on the music for Fighting is Magic still got their touch, that's all I'm gonna say~ The icing of the cake is the fact that TFH got positive feedback, even from experienced fighting game players or MLP fans alike. In fact, it made it into EVO Online! If that's not the ultimate approval I don't know what is.

So, with that said, Them's Fightin Herds stole my heart in a way I never expected. Maybe the C&D that happened to Fighting is Magic is a blessing in disguise? The Mane6 team did an amazing job with their games, and without TFH, I don't think as many people will appreciate their skills and creation.

On another note, I do plan to make a crossover series with MLP and Them's Fightin Herds! When this blog is up, the first chapter is up, and more will come!

That's it for now, may Princess Twilight Sparkle and Oleander bless your day to make it better

That first chapter wouldn't happen to bear the title Prologue, would it?

REALLY good work on the details of this blog. Yeah, I've never played either game, but I HAVE seen enough "game play" videos on YouTube where I can completely understand why you would like them that much.

Definitely eager to see what you are planning for your story.
