Volume III's Roadmap to the Finale · 8:13pm May 23rd, 2020
Hi, everyone! Just checking in. How's it going?
With the last two chapters of Spectacular Seven being mostly positively received, the anxiety I've been harboring for the last six months has mostly been relieved! I'm feeling good about the story again (for now)! So, I've got good news and semi-good news.
The good news is, we're five chapters away from Volume III's completion! Two chapters and the standard three-part finale! The next chapter, 'Canterlot Chronicles' should be ready within the next two weeks or so.
However, that leads me to having to apologize to you guys who were getting comfortable with the quick turn around times for chapters (also, you may have noticed I threw out the Saturday release schedule. I'm far behind where I should have been in the story, so chapters just come out when they're ready right now. I'll get back to a schedule when we hit the finale). While the next one should hopefully come out in a reasonable timeframe, there's going to be a slight lull between that and chapter 16, for two reasons.
One, I need to write the last chapter and the finale all at once. The finale chapters have to come out concurringly, and I need that penultimate chapter to set up the finale. So, once those four are done, it's just a hard sprint to the finish. The flip side to that is, I've been looking forward to this finale, so I don't think it'll be super hard to write (fingers crossed).
The second reason it might take a moment though is because I have acquired an art tablet to better my drawing skills, and plan to take part in EQD's Artist Training Grounds this year! It starts June 1st, and I need to build up some skills using my tablet before I enter. I reckon I'll still have time to write when I'm done with the day's challenge, especially since I'm still currently unemployed, but I thought I'd be transparent with you guys. Provided I don't get frustrated and quit, we probably won't get to the volume finale until early July at the earliest, so my apologies for that. But, it'll be a short wait between that and the start of Volume IV.
So, yeah. I'm glad you guys are still enjoying Spectacular Seven! Maybe someday I'll have pictures to go with it. In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, keep social distancing, and please, stay kind to one another.

Quality over Quantity. Every time. I would rather it take you a month to write each chapter and for you to be able to say "Yes, I like this." than take a week and say "Eh, close enough."
As an aside, I've been enjoying Volume 3 the most. I can't quite explain why but, I think it's because the balance of slice of life to darkness is, well, more balanced. Yes, there's still Tempest plotting, yes, Moondancer's traumatized as shit and needs SO much fucking therapy, but, as Joss Whedon put it, "Make it dark, make it grim, make it tough, but then, for the love of God, tell a joke."
Take your time. Even if we have to wait a month or more for a chapter, well, you always make it worth.

about the storyThings have been going well here and I'm happy you're doing well. Your story has always been amazing, filled with so many details that makes us feel so much. I wont lie, I stopped reading this a LONG while back, in favor of waiting on a heap of chapters to be available all at once lol. seeing as theres only so many left perhaps it is time for me to return to this story now.
Still probably my favorite story on the site. Glad you are enjoying your time and remember, take care of yourself first. If you're happy with it that's what matters most.
This story is the entire reason I've been on the site for the past year, take your time. Early July? With how things are right now, I'm totally cool with that.
Hell man I'm enjoying this and heart of crystal though I imagine that's going to be on hold for a little while.

The time it takes to give it that TLC and enjoy the process is well, well worth the wait. So thrilled that you're enjoying Spectacular again! Protecting that is such the right call.
Also hell yeah, enjoy those other passions like art! I've absolutely seen friends pick up another medium that they've been itching to learn and that only boosts their creative fulfillment. And while I've heard from my artist friends that the switch from traditional hand-drawn to digital is a difficult learning curve, they also said it's well worth the time invested.
I hope you have the best time learning digital art in all the messy, imperfect ways it requires. And giving yourself time to enjoy the last few chapters of Spectacular gives you space to enjoy those in messy, imperfect ways before they're polished up and stunning us fans to tears. Yes to all of this, have a wonderful time!
