But I feel like “To Change A Changeling” would’ve been better if they removed Starlight and Trixie and focused on Thorax having to deal with it instead.

It would’ve given him more limelight than he did in the show overall... right?

Actually, I agree with you. He could have dealt with it himself, maybe introducing Ocellus to us by her being the one to ask Thorax about Pharynx and coming up with the "great idea" to re-lay the plants. But unfortunately I bet the show required there be a main character of the show to be there. Or at least show up to provide a plot point.

I may or may not get backlash for saying this, but part of the conflict might have been Thorax’s fault.

I mean, think about it; here’s what he said in the episode itself.

Pharynx used to be Head of Patrol, but now we’re peaceful so there’s no need to patrol.

See that? What does he mean there’s no need to patrol? There’s a freaking maulwurf outside the hive. He said so himself.

True enough. The conflict is Thorax's fault, due to not considering the maulwarf...unless it was a newer threat. But he said there's no need to patrol, not fight. And Pharynx himself admitted that he could only take down the maulwarf with the rest of the swarm. So they were kind of both in the wrong, since Pharynx only told them that while they were in the middle of the actual fight.

Either way, I agree that Starlight and Trixie weren't entirely necessary in the episode.

Didn’t they have to fight though? I mean, that’s what solved the problem at the end.

I never said they didn't have to. I only meant they were both kind of wrong in the way they went about things. But my point was agreeing Starlight and Trixie did end up being a bit pointless, other than being the catalyst for Pharynx leaving the Hive.

I guess. I dunno how Pharynx was in the wrong though.

5265495
Well...I guess he wasn't exactly wrong, more that he didn't tell them everything, making Starlight think that Pharynx could defeat the maulwarf all by himself and causing her to re-lay the trail.

I can only imagine how he actually felt when heard Starlight calling him a lost cause.

Yeah, I had a theory on that. Hold on, I'll pm you on it.

Ooh, this should be good.
