Hello! Plus my Character! Plus more Exclamation Marks!!!!!! · 3:06am May 19th, 2020

Hello!
Welcome to my page! Here is my obligatory blog post! I am Don the Bassman, as in bass guitar, which I attempt to play on occasion. I got introduced to MLP through the RPG, Tails of Equestria. The first character I played, a unicorn named Emerald Fire, was a complete psychopath. After I watched the show, I felt guilty for how I was playing him. So I retired him and created Shadow Star, and I have never had a character grab my imagination like this. My group’s Game Master had to endure a barrage of stories and information about her.

So, since I am still writing the stories, and probably won’t stop anytime soon, I figured I would share them. I was introduced to fimfiction by CastaSpellLiana, who I'm working with on some stories as well, which I hope to be able to share!

I do have another character, Atisuto Silverhoof, that I'm writing for as well. My icon/avatar was made by CastaSpellLiana, it's actually a small picture from a larger picture, but that's another story for another time. I'll put Atisuto, and info about Steelsong his wife, up in another post.

Without further ado, here we go! Say hello to Shadow Star!

Shadow Star is a unicorn with a bit of a twist. Her horn never really came in, it’s just a nub under her mane making her range with magic rather short and its color a dark purple, like a black light, and doesn’t generate much light due to it being hidden under her mane. She has a very light lavender coat and a red, like the color of embers, for her mane and tail.

Born in Manehatten, Shadow was picked on when she was very little due to her horn being just a nub. Her family moved to Vanhoover before she started school and, so she hid her horn from other ponies while growing up there and was generally considered to be an Earth Pony due to this. Her brothers and sisters still teased her, however, so Shadow didn’t have much of a home life. The rest of her family excelled at magic and her siblings were favored for being able to live up to expectations that her parents had, so Shadow’s parents pretty much just left her to her own devices, not really giving attention to the little filly.

One day, while wandering alone, Shadow found the Sapphire Mount dojo, a school that mainly taught Hoofdin-Ji-do, a pegasus martial-art. There she met a pegasus pony her age named Dart Silverhoof and Dart’s father, Taneuma Silverhoof, the master of the dojo. Dart and Shadow became fast friends and Shadow started taking martial art classes after school, finding that she that she excelled in them. It was during one of the classes when she received her cutie mark, a yin yang symbol, with the sun and moon, highlighting her talent and drive in martial arts. It was about this time that Shadow started to dye her coat to being dark purple, with her mane and tail being colored a dark aqua. Hard to be a ninja when you are brightly colored!

When Shadows siblings were accepted into to the magic school in Canterlot and her family moved again but left little Shadow behind with Taneuma and his family. Sensei Silverhoof’s family is quite large, rivaling that of the Apple clan in size, and they are mostly pegasi, but they welcomed Shadow into the family with open hooves and gave her the family life she always craved, with the entire Silverhoof clan adopting the little unicorn when her birth family left her in Vanhoover. This allowed little Shadow to flourish. She grew to being quite tall, about the height of Luna, and due to her training, she is very athletic.

Shadow became Taenuma’s best pupil, even learning to fly using the limited distance of her telekinesis to mimic her new family as much as she could, eventually adapting her telekinesis to allow her to learn this pegasus martial art, using sticks and swords to mimic wings. She even developed the ability to use her magic to allow her to stick to walls and ceilings. Shadow Star holds the tenants of Hoofdin-Ji-Do close to her heart, these are the tenants of HoofDin-Ji-Do:

Honesty – The truth is often the hardest to say and may hurt. But the pain will pass quicker than the betrayal of falsehoods.

Loyalty – Friends are the greatest treasure one could ever hope to find. Honor them and hold them close for there is nothing greater.

Kindness – Be strong enough to be gentle, for it is the kind hand that turns a charging bull.

Hope – Darkness is all around, shine like a beacon to light the way for yourself and others, for darkness flees from even the smallest candle.

Generosity – Shared joy is heightened; shared pain is lessened. Give of your heart and light will always shine.

Teachings on fighting - Evil runs when a kind heart goes to war. Violence is never the answer but the final reply. Defense of others is the greatest use for might. If it misses by an inch or by a mile, it still missed. As steel sharpens steel, skill sharpens skill.

Shadow is known as a fierce competitor in the martial arts community, seeking to perfect herself but strives to lift others up. She is quick with a complement and acts with grace and humility in both victory and defeat.

When she graduated school, and was given the blessing of her father, Taneuma, Shadow Star joined the Vanhoover Police department. She took this as a step to eventually join the Royal Guard, which has always been her dream. She moved up the ranks quickly due to her skill in both diffusing situations and ending them when necessary. These skills got her noticed by the Captain of the Royal Guard at the time, Steel Thunder and he requested that she transfer to the Royal Guard of Canterlot, since her skills would be valuable in protecting Princess Celestia.

Nothing like having a skilled, sneaky Unicorn Ninja Pony on your team!

Shadow fit right in with the royal guard and gained many friends. The unicorn worked her way up through the ranks of the guard due to her leadership abilities. And her unusual skills were of great value and, to Princess Celestia’s delight, Shadow is known to “walk” on the walls and ceiling to watch over her charges from the shadows above.

The Ninja Unicorn was selected for a special mission and she was not in Canterlot for a few years, leaving before the beginning of the start of MLP:FiM. She returned sometime later, joining some in some adventures where she met her love, Moon Dusk. During these adventures, Shadow stopped dyeing her coat and mane, allowing them to return to their normal color.
