UK PonyCon postponed to March 2021 · 7:18pm May 13th, 2020
This has been coming, I think, but it's now official: UK PonyCon 2020 is no more. The October convention has a new date: 8th/9th May 2021. Yes, May! It's going to be an interesting experience. Read the official press release here. Of course we can't be sure what the situation will be in a year's time either, but naturally we all hope the 2021 event will be able to go ahead. And if it does, I hope I might even be able to attend it.
It was expected, of course; they just held off due to wanting to wait and see whether there was a chance of things being all clear and safe by then. Of course, that was not to be. Still, UK PonyCon in May, that'll feel unique for all the regulars (yes, I know BUCK is around that time, not the same thing)!
I was mad stoked to return to the convention after last year before the pandemic struck, so I'm well receptive to this new timeslot - they even managed to retain Kelly Shierdan! Assuming it manages to go ahead safely - it's looking okay right now, but that's assuming we get vaccines when we're supposed to, so best not stake everything on it - I'm set on returning to Nottingham for this.

May worked well for Griffish Isles last year, but BUCK the two times I went to it was in August, so I've never been to a big May convention. Of course, I may not get to one in 2021, and even if I do I may not want to stay all weekend -- but it's much too far away as yet. Assuming it does happen, it'll be interesting to see what the presence of a high-profile show guest does to the dynamics. Having thought about this, I don't think it'll actually change them that much. That's a good thing in my book.
