As a Follow-Up to My Status Report... · 2:50pm May 9th, 2020
Yesterday, I had become aware of Dramamaster829’s comments about me after my good friend on FiMFiction, Tim Ribbert, talked to him and showed him my report. I saw him saying that the report hardly changed his mind about ever forgiving me and that he thinks I’d just go back to making the same mistakes all over again, which was fueled by the fact that the characters of Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Aunt Holiday, and Auntie Lofty are on my list of least favorite characters.
I just want everyone to know that I truly mean what I said in my last post. I’m willing to go forward and not go back to making the mistakes I already made.
I don’t care whether Dramamaster829 forgives me or not. If he doesn’t want anything to do with me, that’s fine. Unless he really does forgive me, I’m not interested in having anything to do with him either.
All I can say is that the mistakes I made before are ones that I’m not wanting to make again, and I really am going to try my best to be a better man than I was previously. Realizing my errors and sending that report yesterday has helped me feel much more at peace with myself, and I’m planning on keeping it that way. If I see something that had driven me into doing what I did in the past, my intention will be to just walk away from it and not say anything about it. If something about it is on my mind, I’ll just write my thoughts down on a piece of paper and never show it to the public.
As for why I added Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Aunt Holiday, and Auntie Lofty to my list of least favorite characters of MLP: FiM…Believe me, the reasons hardly have anything to do with them. I think they’re likable in their own ways. But, the problem is that it’s hard to like them when it feels like people are forcing you to think of them as one thing and not another. If I recall correctly, individual fans of something can be allowed to think of a character or more as however they interpret them when a show or film series provides them with that kind of opportunity. Many times, though, people kept forcing me into thinking what they think and would call me terrible names, even accusing me of things if I didn’t think what they think.
Well, at one point they finally got to me, and once they did...that was when I added the four characters to my list. All because those people wanted me to see them as part of something I don’t think is right.
And yes, I’m aware of the comments on Twitter by various writers and animators of the show, but outside of that...the show itself seems to offer much more freedom of interpretation for fans than most people think. I’m willing to take Lyra, Bon Bon, Holiday, and Loftie off the list if people will allow me freedom of interpretation, really. I’m even intending on making my own fanfics as part of my own headcanon so that I can make them as how I interpret them and see if I can gain more appreciation for them.
I’m not telling you all this in defense of me putting the characters on the list of least favorite characters. It’s merely to explain why that happened and what was the cause of it all. All I want is to have freedom as a fan to view the four characters as what I believe or theorize them to be rather than be subjugated into thinking what others think they are.
Is that really too much to ask for?
Might I suggest completely removing the Least Favorite characters thing altogether?
Like, seriously, what purpose does it serve?

And no, it's not because I'm a homophobe. It's because people like you are taking away any reason to appreciate the characters at all. And as I already said, I'm willing to make my own head canon fanfics to set up alternatives since the show seems to provide room for doing so.
After all, where's the fun in not doing that?

I agree. You should be allowed to interpret them your own way and not let others influence your opinion. People these days are too controlling and too demanding that take the fun out of everything.
I don't think it's too much to ask for.
AMU, unfortunately, children's programming is under increased pressure to portray homosexuality as acceptable, so we're going to be seeing more of it.
The portrayals can be as blatant as the one in Arthur or as subtle as what we got from MLP, but they're probably going to keep coming. I don't know how to properly respond to it either, but I do know two things. We need to be honest about what the Bible says is true, and we need to express that truth in a way that communicates God's love and grace. Neither of those things is going to be easy, and it'll be incredibly tempting to choose one over the other, but we're called to be people who do both, so we need to try.
